User-made changes in Risk not coming into effect

I had experimented with changing Max position size / Max Order Size in Tools -> Risk with success. However after trying changing some metrics again for 2-3 times as of writing, these new user-made changes no long have power on my order / position activities.

In desktop, I set Max order size and Max position set for MES both to '1' in Ninjatrader's default risk template(no other user-created templates exist) while being on a real-time connection, applied, saved the workspace, restarted NT8, clicked 'No' to the dialog asking whether to restore the values to default risk template.

and yet the platform is still letting me place a 2 lot order on MES.

I open Tools -> Risk, the values for Max position size and Max order size for MES are still 1.

Again, during my attempt a few weeks ago the new values did manage to reject non-compliant orders.

    Hello kaseipds,

Thank you very much for your post.

Is it possible these settings apply to a live account?

Risk settings only apply to locally simulated accounts, such as the Sim101 account.

The platform cannot apply these settings to live, evaluation/prop, or paper-trading accounts, such as the NinjaTrader DEMO account.

Risk settings for these accounts are set directly by the provider directly.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any further questions about this!

      Hi Manfred,
      Thank you for your response!

The account I mentioned I had success with changing Risk parameters on is in fact a ninjatrader DEMO account as opposed to a sim account named in the format 'sim<...>'. and is the same account I can no longer influence.

Secondly, could I get Ninjatrader Brokerage to raise my risk parameters(*higher* intraday margins, smaller Max position size / order size) by request?

        Hello kaseipds,

Thank you very much for your reply.

If you would like to enable the local Sim101 account, please first enable NinjaTrader's Multi-Provider Mode:

How To Enable Multi-Provider Mode on NinjaTrader Desktop

Once enabled, please create a "NinjaTrader" connection, as this no longer connects automatically:

NinjaTrader Connection Guide when Multi-Provider Mode is Enabled

You will now have access to the local Sim101 account again.

Concerning risk management, the DEMO account is closer to a paper-trading or evaluation account, as it is based on NinjaTrader's servers and can also be accessed through NinjaTrader Mobile and NinjaTrader Web.

All risk settings that can be applied to this account automatically may be found in the Account Dashboard below:

For any additional risk settings, please contact us directly at brokerage (at) ninjatrader (dot) com. Our Client Services Team can then assist you further.
