Realistic Fills.

Does NT8 support this in Sim Mode?

Does fills are realistic in demo?

My trial ended and I was focusing on trying to learn the interface etc. I NEED to know this to be honest to make the switch from other platform.

Thank you for the message.

First, please note that Live orders are filled at the exchange, not by NinjaTrader; so the platform and/or NinjaTrader Brokerage has no effect over whether your Live order fills or at which price the order fills at.

• If using market orders, the amount of slippage you receive on your order will vary depending on market conditions at that time.
• Limit orders are filled at the exchange based on price availability at that time.

Limit orders are filled by the simulator based off of several factors to ‘best guess’ what would occur in a live market.

• The sim engine uses depth of market, approximate position in queue, and volatility to estimate where you would be filled in a live market
• However, there is no way to exactly replicate what would occur in a live market trade.

Limit orders are always filled at the limit price or better, so these will inherently have no slippage.

In short:

• Market Orders guarantee a Fill, but they do not guarantee a Price.
• Limit Orders guarantee a Price, but they do not guarantee a fill.

Ok so which parameters or options do I have, to sim in the most realistic way.

Is there a difference if I pay for market data? Fills orders work the same in real time data or delayed data?

I'm not sure yet to switching to 99 a month, but i don't have problems to pay for market data if that helps. Big difference in price . Once I could back test in the most "realistic" way i may switch. I love scalping, that's why i'm asking about fills.

Thank you for the update.

There is no way to change how a NinjaTrader Demo account will work. That is all processed by the online servers.

• The Demo account will NOT let you sim trade with Delayed Data. You'd have to fund the NinjaTrader account and then subscribe to a real-time data subscription:

If trading the Sim101 account, there are two settings you could modify if you desire. The ones you choose to go with are completely up to you.

• Go to the Control Center > Tools > Options > "Trading" Category
  •

    • Click here for the more details on the other settings in the Trading menu
      • You are welcome to turn on and off these settings and test and figure out if having them on, off or what is the most comparable to you and your trading.

At the end of the day, simulated trading is just that. While it can get pretty close, a simulator doesn't know about the weird and unique caveats of each market and how their traders actually work and trade.

• Simulated trading is great for practicing and learning to use the interface and getting a feel for things, but once you go live, those orders are being sent to the actual Exchange's servers and filled by them when the market conditions dictate.
• So, you could have a completely different experience on one market to the next and that is out of NinjaTrader's control.

If I fund my account (no minimum isn't' it?), but with the free subscription with NT8 and pay for market data, will I still be able to sim trade? Or do I have to pay the 99 monthly and then the market data?

Hello Tin34,

Thank you for the update.

Once the account is funded, you will be able to subscribe to real-time data. Then, once you have active data on the NinjaTrader Credentials again, you would be able to use the Demo account for Simulated trading again.

Paying for an Account Plan or the Multi-broker add-on would not change how the Demo accounts or data works.

• The Account plan would lower your commission rates with Live Trades to a NinjaTrader Brokerage account and give you the Order Flow + features if you went with the Lifetime version
