    Name = External for Entry and Exit

    Hi there! I am hoping to get some clarity as to why there could be External executions in my account. I have seen similar threads, but my situation seems different.

    firstly, I am only running my algo and managing trades on a single platform (TopStep) and machine.

    secondly, it seems unlikely that Topstep is managing my trade because even the Entry is External. If the trade were managed by Topstep (for risk, maybe), then only the Exit should be External I think?

    not sure if I’m having the right idea, but would appreciate if someone could shed a light on this occurrence. So far it has happened twice for me.

    is there any way to check the source of these executions?

    The forum is NOT a good place to investigate an order as it is publicly facing and we need to look through your log and trace files for further information and details to provide an informed response.

    In general, seeing "External" means the order signal came from outside of the local NinjaTrader Platform.
    • This means the orders was submitted from another platform
    • The orders were managed while NinjaTrader was Closed
    • Or, the order was submitted by the Account Provider

    If you would like to investigate this behavior any further, please use the following steps to send your log and trace files to the support team directly from your NinjaTrader Platform so we may investigate this behavior further:
    • Within NinjaTrader, go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support...
    • To: Set this to "Platform Technical Support"
    • Subject: Copy and paste the Forum URL
    • Attach: Attach a file, picture, or compressed file to share multiple files/pictures
    • Body: Include any other information you would like to share on the situation
    • Make sure 'Log and Trace files' is checked to include the requested files
      • Send the email
