How can I backtest using ^TICK?

I want to backtest using the NYSE ^TICK Index. How can I do tis without a subscription to its data type?
How can I add ^TICK to a chart? Under index, TICK does not have the ^.

    Thank you.

    Hello Newtrader101,

Thank you for your inquiry and for using NinjaTrader!

It would not be possible to run a backtest on the TICK, as it is not a tradeable symbol.

Additionally, TICK under the Index instrument list is one in the same as ^TICK. The caret symbol simply identifies it as an index once it's been added to the chart or when manually typing the symbol in the Instrument Selector.

Please let us know if we may assist you any further.
