    Create New Strategy from Analyzer

Is there a way that from the strategy analyzer, after I have done a backtest or optimization, I can click on the results and send to/create a new strategy with the parameters selected instead of having to manually go and do new strategy and re-enter my parameters/settings?

    Hello proptradingshop,

You can create a template of the parameters used. In a backtest all you need to do is click the "Template" button that is located in the lower right of the window. That will allow you to save the parameters you currently have set. For an optimization you have to first click the row of the results you are interested in and then use the template button to save a template. Now when you apply the strategy outside of the analyzer you have the option of using that template when you are configuring it.

Thank you NinjaTrader_Jesse but I was hoping to just click on the row of the backtest and send to -> strategy or something like that. The way you mentioned is just as time consuming as manually entering.

        Hello proptradingshop,

Creating a template is still faster than manually changing each value, that lets you set all properties at once by clicking a few times. Sending to a new strategy would also clutter your strategies list with a bunch of duplicate strategies, by using a template you have 1 main strategy where you can optionally load specific settings.

To make a template only takes a couple of clicks. For a backtest you only have to click the Template button a single time and then Save. For an optimization it takes one extra click because you need to click on the row of the results you want the settings for before clicking the template button.

Loading templates is also a very simple process, after applying the strategy click the Templates button in the lower right of the strategies properties, click Load, select the template and click Open. The strategy is now configured with the parameters you wanted. All you have to do at this point is enable it.
