    Backtest 2021-2024

    Dear support team!

I need to backtest instrument ES from 2021 and 2024. I'm having data from Apex prop firm and I do not know how to backtest from 2021 to 2024 once at a time because of ES contract expiration making me hardly to backtest. If you have any solutions please help me! Thank you!

    Hello maybeimnotrader,

Is the Tools -> Options -> Market Data -> Historical -> Global merge policy set to the default setting of Merge back adjusted?

What dates have you selected as the Start and End date in the Strategy Analyzer Data Series?

What bar type is selected in the Strategy Analyzer Data Series?

If you select the Chart display, what is the first bar of data on the chart?

May I confirm you are showing a green dot in the Connections menu next to the Apex connection?

I just turned Merge back adjusted.
The date I selected I chose ES 06-24 and start date: 5 March, end date: 18 April
      Bar: 5 range
      Strategy: Third party TDU
Yes green dot in the connections.

But the point is I want to backtest 1 chart included 2 years from 2021 to 2024. Is it possible?

        Hello maybeimnotrader,

"I just turned Merge back adjusted."

If you have modified the Merge policy you will need to ensure you are connected to a data feed / brokerage with futures data, open a chart to the same start and end date and then right-click the chart and select Reload All Historical Data.
This will redownload the data for the merge policy.

That said, unfortunately NinjaTrader does not have historical Tick data more than 1 year previous to the current day. Range bars will be built using historical data.
Where can I get older tick data from? I want to run the optimizer over a longer period, say, the last five years. All I can find is data Replay providers, which isn't the data I need. When I initiate my connection (my provider is Rithmic) and download tick data, it doesn't appear that I'm getting anything older than a year.

This means you will need to obtain historical tick data previous to 1 year ago from a 3rd party service such as cqgdatafactory, tickdata.com, or another 3rd party that provides historical tick data for download that is compatible with ninjatrader.

Thank you! another question is. Im having troubles from delaying data which means tick data show the time slower than real time 2 to 3 minutes.

The image shows that right chart was 13:49 but in my computer clock was 13:51. Do you have any solutions?

            Hello maybeimnotrader,

This could be caused by two things.

First, the computer clock may not be in sync with internet time. Second, the CPU logical processor running this thread may be overloaded.
            • Shutdown NinjaTrader *important
            • Windows 10
              • Navigate to the Windows Control Panel
              • Select Clock and Region -> then click 'Set the time and date'
(Or click 'Date and Time' if this is visible)
              • Click on Internet Time tab
              • In the Server: drop-down select time.nist.gov
              • Click Update
            • Windows 11
              • Open Settings
              • Click on Time & language.
              • Click the Date & time page on the right side.
              • Under the “Additional settings” section, click the Sync now button.
            • If the message that appears says 'successful', your PC clock should now be updated
If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)
            • Restart NinjaTrader
            • Connect to a data feed
            • Reload All Historical Data *important
Below are a few links to 3rd party educational sites with steps to synchronize with internet time.

If this does not correct the issue, close all open workspaces and save a new blank workspace. Restart NinjaTrader. In the blank workspace with no other workspaces open, open a new chart and do not apply any template or indicators.

If the behavior does not occur on a new chart in a new blank workspace with all other workspaces closed, this would indicate that the issue was occurring due to an overloaded logical processor.
Hello All, I am using NT8 8.0.17.2. My workspace has been essentially static for more then six months, meaning no new indicators or growth in windows open or
