Hello, I'm running NT8 8.1.1.7 64-bit.

I have two windows open. I have one chart open in each window.

Both charts have the same instrument. Each chart is running different timeframes.

After a while, one of the charts freezes up, but the other chart is still accessible.

The only way to exit this situation is to kill the NT8 task.

When I do that, I get the following popup message

"Unhandled exception. A write lock may not be acquired with a read lock held. This pattern is prone to deadlocks. Please ensure that read locks are released before taking a write lock. If an upgrade is necessary, use an upgrade lock instead of the read lock."

Have you seen this message before? Is this a known problem?

Thank you posting.

This error occurs when there is a process NT is trying to complete, and a write lock is attempting to be performed while the same thread is in a read lock state.

So I may look into this further please go to Help->Email Support and be sure to include Attn: Chris Jameson in the Subject line, a link to this thread in the body and a check in the box for "Log and trace files".

I'm tired of the two-year-old lock problem that freezes the charts.

I have NT8 8.1.1.7 on a Windows Server 2012 VPS.

I've moved over to a Windows Server 2022 with NT8 8.0.26.1 installed.

That version is the last before the lock problems started.

You can keep the latest releases.

I'm only upgrading the NT platform once this lock problem has been fixed.

Development has made changes within the latest release NinjaTrader Desktop version 8.1.3.0 addressing this error "Unhandled exception. A write lock may not be acquired with a read lock held." You may install the latest version at the link I have provided below. Keep in mind prior to installing the latest version please close NinjaTrader.

I will monitor the next three months of user response to 8.1.3.0. If the deadlock problem appears resolved, I'll give 8.1.3.0 a try.

I am encountering the same error with the same issues on version 8.1.3.1 (64-bit). Twice today. Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Ask them if they have implemented an upgrade lock under NT 8.1.3.1.
