Ninjatrader very slow to start up

Thanks for your post.
Are you trying to load multiple workspaces when NinjaTrader starts up?
Do you have a large number of charts loading with indicators/strategies applied to those charts?
The impact NinjaTrader has on your PC will be dependent on how much NinjaTrader has to calculate upon startup. We typically advise the following as tips to improve platform performance.- Configure charts so their Days To Load is an absolute minimum, just enough for your indicators to function properly
- Configure indicators to use Calculate.OnBarClose when possible as opposed to Calculate.OnPriceChange and Calculate.OnEachTick.
- Use less charts and less complex indicators
- Avoid using Tick Replay.
Let's try testing your platform in Safe Mode to verify if this behavior is caused by a 3rd-party add-on or is isolated to your Workspace using the steps below. Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:- Loading workspaces and connecting on start-up.
- Loading custom assemblies (3rd-party add-ons and NinjaScripts)
- Getting instrument updates from the server
- Go to the Windows Start Menu
- Search for NinjaTrader > select 'NinjaTrader (Safe Mode)'
- Once you have opened the platform in Safe Mode, you may manually connect to your Data Provider from the Connections dropdown
Once you are connected, open a new chart with no custom bar types, indicators, or templates and test for issues. Does the behavior persist on this blank Workspace in Safe Mode?
If not, please try opening your previous workspace from the Control Center > Workspaces dropdown. It may already appear as open. Hit 'close' and do not save, then re-open it again for your windows to appear. You will notice that no 3rd-party add-ons are available in Safe Mode. Does the behavior return to your regular Workspace in Safe Mode?
If not, restart NinjaTrader normally, and test for the behavior on your Workspace normally once more with your 3rd-party add-ons available. If the issue returns, we suggest rebuilding your workspace. Keep track of each add-on you implement to identify the cause of the behavior should it return. If the issue does not resurface, it confirms the error was isolated only to your other Workspace.
We also suggest backing up your workspace (Tools > Export > Backup) so you may restore a working version if the issue returns. Additional information about backups may be read here in our Help Center.
Please let us know the results of this test. We look forward to your response.

Good Morning,
I am having the same issue as the original poster. I followed your instructions and in Safe Mode, while the control panel does come up a little faster, when I try loading my workspace, it still takes several minutes. I do have three charts load, but 1) I have a very fast PC, and 2) it only started doing this a couple of months ago (I've been using NT8 for over 3 years). So, I don't think there's necessarily a correlation between my charts and the painfully slow speed loading them up. It's definitely not the indicators since they didn't load in Safe Mode, and I don't run strategies. So I'm sort of stumped on why such poor performance the past couple of months.
Other details that might help:
- While it takes several minutes for the charts to load and calculate, it does run fairly good once loaded.
- Playback used to be quite nice to use. Now it's painful. If I load up playback, it takes several more minutes, even to load just one day. If I move the "Play head" to move forward or backward in time, it takes several more minutes just for it to load.
For example, I just clicked on Playback, it took nearly 3 minutes to load (an eternity when you're sitting here staring at the screen). It opened up automatically with the dates 12/06/24 to 12/13/24. I only wanted Friday. So I changed 12/06/24 to 12/13/24, and it took another couple of minutes to update. Then, because I only wanted to replay the open, I slid the play head to around 9:33AM and it took ANOTHER couple of minutes to update. That's nearly 10 minutes of waiting just to get to playback for Friday morning at 9:30.
I also tried this in Safe Mode, and it's just as slow. Playback never used to be this slow. if it took 30 seconds to load before, that would have been a surprise.
Any help you can provide me would be greatly appreciated. This is making it painful to use NinjaTrader. What can I do to fix this?
