NT 8 will not start

    NT 8 will not start

    Windows 10 PC, NT8 worked fine yesterday.

    Today will not start at all in normal or safe mode after trying the following:.
    • Rebooted computer
    • Did a repair installation
    • Ran Windows Restore from restore point a few days ago,
    • Uninstalled and reinstalled NT
    • Ran Advanced System Care to check for registry errors
    • Restarted CenturyLink high speed DSL router

    As NT tries to start, the little blue circle spins for a couple of seconds then gives up.

    The super-annoying Ninjatrader warning chime sounds, but there is no notification window saying what the problem is..

    The trace file says:

    ******************* Session Start (Version 8.1.2.1) *******************
    2024-03-12 10:54:09:898 WARNING: Session Break (Version 8.1.2.1)​

    There is a duplicate installation on a laptop and I've saved the bin folder in another place, so my custom data and settings are safe.
    The instance of NT8 on the Lenovo IdeaPad Windows 11 laptop starts and runs normally.

    Thank you for reaching out.

    To resolve this, I would advise you try to reset your UI file.

    -Shut down NinjaTrader 8
    -Go to Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 -> UI.xml
    -Highlight the UI.xml file -> Right Click -> Rename -> OldUI.xml

    Then try to launch NT8 Desktop once again.

    If it still will not launch, additionally run a platform repair.

    To complete a repair, do the following:
    • Shut down NinjaTrader 8
    • Go to your computer's Control Panel > Programs & Features (Note: search for 'Control Panel' to find it within the Windows Start Menu. This will be a different window than the Settings page)
    • Left-click once on NinjaTrader 8 > select 'Repair' above the list of available programs
    • Restart the platform after it finishes repairing, and test for this behavior again.

      That resolved the nostart problem, but after using the password reset system, there were endless, idiotic, time wasting capchas, after which I remained locked out with "too many logins, please wait".

      Eventually got it started. Thanks for your help.
