    RAM Usage

    Dear Ninja Support Team,

I noticed that with every optimization run NinjaTrader consumes a significant amount of RAM from my PC and does not reset it's RAM usage after the optimization run is done. This limits the number of optimization runs and slows down my PC noticeably and eventually leads to Ninja crashing.

The fix i found to this constraint is to restart my NinjaTrader application every time my RAM is 80% utilized and that is not convenient.

Is there a way or setting I could adjust to make NinjaTrader automatically free up the utilized RAM space without having to restart the application?

Nope. Been a problem for ages.

      Hello ahpeak951,

      Thank you for your post.

One item that can have a large impact on RAM/memory usage is the "Keep best # of results" property in your optimization settings. Even when an optimization run is completed, the best number of results are stored in memory and could be leading to your heightened RAM usage. Please try reducing this number to see if it improves the performance. Other factors that affect optimization performance are listed in the help guide here:

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance.

        Hi Emily,

        Thanks for your reply.

So just to make sure, there is no functionality that would allow NinjaTrader to flush/clear out the consumed RAM/memory?

The only thing that works is to restart NT, which is a pretty silly workaround, if you ask me. There is no point in storing those results in memory if a new test has begun. Buying more RAM can help you keep NT running longer without restarting, but it won't fix the problem.
