Instrument-specific Alerts do not survive change of Instrument in chart window

If I set an alert on a specific instrument, it doesn't stay with that instrument.
When I open a different instrument in that same chart window, I receive a dialog asking me to remove or move the alert... I don't get it.
Is there not a way to set global alerts, so I get them for whatever instrument regardless of where I am in NT?

Thank you for using NinjaTrader.

Alerts are tied specifically to whatever chart you set it up initially with - these alerts are not applicable on a global basis.
What you can do is apply an alert to more than one instrument if looking at more than one data series contained within a 'Market Analyzer' window or a Chart:
