Error: unable to connect to DB: unable to open database file

    Hi,

I had trouble installing NT8 due to unknown Registry problems, where your support said a windows specialist is necessary.

Now I have completely set up my pc, installed NT8 and it was working fine. But our IT department had to put the PC in our domain, leading to the fact that I now have two user files.

One user where NT8 originally created the folder "Ninja Trader 8" and "Ninja Trader 8 Backup" under "documents".

I copied these two folders into the new user folder that got automatically created after putting the pc in the domain. After doing that and starting NT8 the error message "unable to connect to DB: unable to open database file" popped up.

My questions is: Is it safe for me to uninstall NT 8 and install it again with the new user? I worry that by doing this, parts of the registry will not be cleared and I end up with the original problem that I could not install NT 8 (error message: rolling back actions")

Or are there other ways to solve the problem?

    Any help is welcome!

    Marc

    Hello marc_105,

    Thank you for posting.

I suggest renaming your database with the steps provided below to attempt to resolve this error:
    • Shutdown NinjaTrader and Go to the Start Menu
    • Select My Documents--> NinjaTrader 8--> db--> "NinjaTrader.sqlite" file (may only say 'NinjaTrader' depending on your Windows File Explorer settings)
    • Right click on NinjaTrader.sqlite and select "Rename"
    • Name it "OLDNinjaTrader.sqlite"
    • Then restart the software and NinjaTrader will create a fresh database file to use

If the error persists so I may look into this further please send an email to platformsupport [AT] ninjatrader [DOT] com with "ATTN: Chris Jameson" in the subject line.

In the message, please include the following:
1.) A link to this forum thread.
2.) A copy of your log and trace files.

Please follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your email.
    • Open your NinjaTrader folder under, "Documents" (sometimes called, "My Documents")
    • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
    • Send the 2 compressed folders as an attachment in your email
    • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
Let me know if I may be of further assistance.

      Hey Chris,

Thanks a lot for the fast reply!

Unfortunately, renaming the db did not solve the problem. I still get the same error message, though a new ninjatrader.sqlite was automatically created in the same folder.

I just sent you a mail with the information you asked for!

      Thanks in advance,
      Marc
