Not happy about the file structure of Ninja

I was getting an exception error with Ninja. I sent the log and trace files to support. They gave a reason. They said OneDrive had corrupted the program. They came back with a fix. They said I needed to unlink my Documents folder from OneDrive.

Here is the issue. My entire business is located in the Documents folder. I need it backed up in OneDrive. That backup has saved my butt on more than one occasion. So, unlinking Documents from OneDrive is not an option. Do you want to know what else is not an option? Moving the Ninja folder out of Document so I can unlink that specific folder from OneDrive. That is bad. This needs to be rectified.

Welcome to the wonderful world of NinjaTrader!

    You are not alone.

While Sr Mgmt pursues many new business initiatives,
such as Web and Mobile, you are one of the many that
has noticed this simple usability problem (this is one of
several) has continued to remain unaddressed.

I am ashamed to say that the folks at NinjaTrader don't
    care about this problem.

They have steadfastly refused to acknowledge their own
culpability, refused to provide any kind of workaround fixes,
and refused to support the user folder being moved outside
    of the Documents folder.

The underlying point here is that Microsoft is the 800 lb
gorilla in the room, and OneDrive is not going away, so
the problems you found with NT vs OneDrive interactions
are expected to happen often and more frequently, esp
as new users signup with NinjaTrader, esp as these new
users start using Windows 11 (where OneDrive is more
    embedded within the Windows experience.)

Your best bet is to tell OneDrive to ignore backing up the
NinjaTrader user folder, or devise some other scheme
where this folder is only backed up during non-market
hours -- presumably the hours when NinjaTrader is not
    running.

If you cannot or will not carve out an exception for the
NinjaTrader user folder within OneDrive, then ... well
then, sadly, maybe the NinjaTrader product is not for
    you.

I say that with all due respect, because I don't see NT
support providing you much more support in the OneDrive
compatibility problem arena -- they have stuck their heads
in the sand, and fine users like yourself are left feeling
    abandoned with no further options.

NinjaTrader current engineering direction is thus:
They want new paying users, and they are not interested
in addressing old problems, since fixing old problems
does not help acquire these new paying users.

Like I said, you are not alone with your frustrations.

    Just my 2˘.

Unlinking Ninja within the Documents folder is not doable. OneDrive won't allow it. The only option I can think of is creating a new folder moving everything that is in my Document folder into the new folder and then unlinking my Document folder. This makes me nervous. Many software programs will allow you to specify where you want the folders it creates to be placed. Ninja should do this! From your comment, it sounds like I'm just beating a dead horse and it is time for me to make a decision. As the song says, "Should I stay or should I go???"

        Amen, Brother!

        Yes, NinjaTrader should do this.

Why they have not done so has never been adequately explained.

I don't think it's an engineering problem to make these changes.

I think the issue is lack of will from upper mgmt.

        IMHO, of course.
