Fastest computer for Replay

Hello guys,

Beside optimizing my script, what makes market replay go faster? Several cores? More cores on the computer faster will be market replay? Faster the CPU clock faster will be replay?
Is ninjatrader 8 multicore?

Thank you for writing in.

NinjaTrader is multicore and will assign instruments on a per-thread basis, as an example: 10 ES charts will all be operating on the same thread

Whereas, if you have 10 charts of 10 different instruments, this will spread out the workload across 10 threads.


With this in mind, it would be worth looking into how many instruments you are currently loading and consolidating where possible.

Im running a strategy that uses 6 charts, and several indicators. Im planning to get a powerfull computer, but I need to be sure if that I go for several cores, it will help my replay to go faster, otherwise it will be a waste of money.

So if I run 6 charts and I have 24 cores.... the replay will be faster if I run it with 48 cores??? I will down the replay time by half?

Thank you for your response.

I am hesitant to provide you with quantifiable information, as there are a lot of factors to consider when using market replay and loading indicators that could affect performance. Generally speaking, though, you could benefit from additional cores if this is the route you're looking to go through.

Im using just one instrument on those 6 charts. So in general terms.... more cores.... less time for the replay? Thank you!

Generally speaking, yes, that would be the case. Please also keep in mind time to load for indicators that could take additional resources.
