NT8 Does not support Forex.com accounts?
I'm trying to connect my brokerage Forex.com to NT8 and I get a message saying, "an account assigned to this login is not a ninjatrader account. Please contact forex.com...". I contacted Forex.com support and they said, "Unfortunately this is purely due to the NinjaTrader connection to our brokerage. With the way this third party platform connects to our brokerage, they are not able to connect to the Raw Pricing accounts and the pricing feed."
Can you please confirm and explain why NT8 is unable to connect to Forex.com?Tags: None

To track down why this fails, please send us your log & trace files and we can best assist you further.
You can do this by going to the Control Center -> Help -> Email Support
Please select "Platform Technical Support" as the recipient and enter a brief note in the message referring to this post.

Yes, I can send logs. Before then I'd like to confirm. Forex.com has two account types. Raw (commission based) and Spread (spread based) accounts. Are you certain NT8 supports both account types? They are saying otherwise.

Thank you for the update.
To connect to a Forex.com account, it needs to be set up as a "Traditional FX" account.
When I tested the connection to our Work - Forex.com account, it worked and connected as expected. This lets us know that the issue with connecting is something specific to the account you are trying to use to connect.
Here is the results of my trying to connect to Forex.com on my PC:
So, we know that a Forex.com account will connect in NinjaTrader. It just needs to be set up correctly on the back-end.
Since NinjaTrader has no control over your Forex.com account, you will want to reach back out to them and ask what needs to be done with the account settings so that you can use it to connect within NinjaTrader.- Since our NinjaTrader account works, we can see it can be done.
- So, you will want to keep reaching out to Forex.com until you can find someone who knows how to help you switch the account settings to work within NinjaTrader.
If you are still unable to connect, please use the following steps to send your log and trace files to the support team directly from your NinjaTrader Platform so we may investigate this behavior further:- Within NinjaTrader, go to the Control Center > Help > Email Support...
- To: Set this to "Platform Technical Support"
- Subject: Copy and paste the Forum URL
- Attach: Attach a file, picture, or compressed file to share multiple files/pictures
- Body: Include any other information you would like to share on the situation
- Make sure 'Log and Trace files' is checked to include the requested files
- Send the email

What type of Forex.com account are you testing with? As I mentioned, Forex.com offers two types of accounts: Spread only and Raw. We currently use NT8 with the Spread only account, but I need to confirm if you are supporting their Raw account type as well. Here is a reference to their account types: https://www.forex.com/en-us/forex-trading/So, we know that a Forex.com account will connect in NinjaTrader. It just needs to be set up correctly on the back-end.
One is a commissions account and the other is a spread account.

Thank you for the update.
Unfortunately, our account is a Demo account and I'm not able to sign in and see its underlying details.- The documentation we have has it listed as a "Traditional FX" account
# 5 within the Disclaimers at the bottom of the Forex.com Connection Guide states:- "5. Spread bet and CFD's based on future contracts are not supported."
If you are still unable to connect, please do not respond here again and instead follow the steps within one of our prior messages to send your Log and Trace files to our support team directly so that we may investigate this further.

jflaggs You might want to confirm that the account you are trying to connect to is Netting, not Hedging. That is often the problem when connection is denied. If that is the case, you'll need FOREX.com to change the account to Netting. This restriction is one of the constraints that makes an account "NinjaTrader-compatible", because that is what NinjaTrader mandates.
