hot keys not working

i'm attempting to use hot keys. and, after i recorded them i hit "apply". but, i get this message after (see attached image).

This is simply a warning message to let you know that Hot Keys are inactive when a modal form has focus.

Modal focus indicates any window that must be closed before other items can be used. For example, the chart's Data Series window has to be closed before you can click on anything else in NinjaTrader because it has modal control.

The Hot Keys window would need to be closed before using Hot Keys in NinjaTrader because it has modal control.

Hotkeys will work on any order entry window as long as you have that window selected. For example, if you wanted your hotkeys to function on a chart, that chart window with Chart Trader enabled must be selected first.

I understand. Thanks for clarifying.

The hot key is not working though. I tried it, and its not doing anything. I'm using chart trader as the active window. other hot keys are working. just not the ones i recorded for market buy and market sell.

Thanks for your notes.

To use Hot Keys for order entry you would need to enable the 'Use order entry hot keys' option in the Tools > Options > Trading tab.
