    Strategies do not load from saved Workspace



    Hi there. My strategies are not loading from a saved workspace.

    While I exit NT and then restart, all of my previously saved charts load, but not the strategies configured within those charts. Furthermore, when I go into my workspace folder, I can see my workdspace xml file is there. Also, when I go into the workspace XML file, the strategies are specified within that workspace file. So, I know the strategies have been saved.

    I've configured hundreds of different strategies within my workspace, so the thought that they no longer exist is worrying me. How to proceed? Thanks,

    Thank you for the message.

    If the strategies are not being saved, it is up to you go through the list of strategies and firgure out which one is causing them all to not show.

    Once you narrow back in on that strategy, you can reach back out to the developer and ask them why their strategy is causing all of them to disappear.
    Otherwise, we could provide the steps to remove all 3rd party strategies so you can then reimport them 1-by-1 and make sure they are saving and not causing the other scripts to disappear.
    • Once you add one in and restart and they all disappear, you will know the last one added back in was causing it and can then investigate further.

      Clayton, thanks, although I'm not sure we're on the same page. All of these strategies are by my own authorship and installation. That is, I created my own strategies, loaded into a chart, and enabled.

      I've had time to experiment, and come up with more. On this particular instance, of NT, none of my strategies ever save. I'm running a couple of different instances of NT simulatiosly.. On only this one, the strategies fail to save. I load up one chart, implement one strategies to that chart, and then save. When I reload, I get the chart, but not the strategy. Furthermore, when I go into the workspace XML file, I can see the strategy is there.

      So, what would cause strategies not to save within a workspace? Thanks,

        Hello timmbbo,

        Thank you for the update.

        What happens if you create a new Workspace and add the Sample MA Crossover Strategy to it? Does it get saved within the workspace after a restart?

        Please try creating a new/basic workspace and testing if the behaviors continue:
        • Go to the Control Center > Workspaces > Click new > Give it a name like "Test" > Click OK
        • Go back to the Workspaces Menu > Hover the mouse over the "Test" workspace > Click save > Now, restart NinjaTrader

        After restarting the platform, it should open to the Empty Test Workspace. Add the "Sample MA Crossover" to this Test workspace, save the workspace, then restart NinjaTrader.
        • Go to the Control Center > Strategy tab > Right-click and add the "Sample MA Crossover" strategy
        • Select the Sim101 or Demo account > Select the ES 03-24
        • Test if it works
        Go to the Workspaces menu > save the workspace > Restart NinjaTrader

        When it loads back up, is the Sample MA Crossover still there or not?


        If yes, then there is something specific to the other strategies that is resulting in the strategies being removed and will require further investigation.

        If no, please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader and perform the Sample MA Crossover test again and see if it is being saved.
        • Close all running applications.
        • Navigate to your Documents folder > Right-click on the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder > Rename > rename the folder to 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD'. DO NOT delete this folder.
        • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
        • Navigate to C:\ > Program File (x86) > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
        • Reboot your PC.
        • Once these steps are completed, please log in to your dashboard and download and install NT8:
