Issue with Price Line

Hello.

Using NT8 version 8.1.2.0

Using the Price Line indicator that comes with NT8.

The indicators bid ask lines don't update in real time more often than I could mention. Meaning when the bid ask price changes on the DOM or Chart Trader, the Price Line indicator lines for the bid and ask often have a delayed move (they don't move in real time) and often move without the bid ask even changing on the Chart Trader and or DOM.


Here are some examples just from today:

Chart Trader:
A: 4588.00
B: 4587.75

Price Line Indicator is a tick off at:
A:4587.75
B:4587.50




Chart Trade:
A: 4587.75
B: 4587.50

Price Line Indicator is a tick off at:
A:4588.00
B:4587.75




Chart Trader:
A: 4587.50
B: 4587.25

Price Line Indicator is a tick off at:
A:4587.25
B:4587.00

Hello,

Please note the price line indicator is based off the last traded price, not the bid or ask price. In each example it appears the price line matches with either the bid or ask price, which would make sense for a last traded price in a liquid instrument.

I follow what you say regarding the last price. However if the indicators' bid and ask lines aren't always following the actual bid and ask price then why are they part of the indicator and not just the last price line ?

Also as they're not accurate then what causes the bid ask lines to change ?

It's very misleading if watching the indicators bid/ask lines and without seeing the actual bid/ask price for obvious reasons.
The trader can't trade off a chart accurately.

Hi.

The Price Line Indicator does plot the bid and ask and last, (user selectable).
Here's an image with only the Price Line indicator on the chart, no other indicators:

If using the additional settings in this indicator to plot the bid and ask, there will only be two lines plotted in most cases as the last price will 'overlap' either the bid or the ask depending on if the last traded price was at the bid or ask level.

The discrepancy may be due to the different refresh rates between the bid/ask display in chart trader and the chart window itself. The chart window updates every 250ms while the bid/ask display in chart trader will update every 25ms. While small, this difference could cause the bid/ask lines to differ from the bid/ask prices as updates come in frequently.

A better solution for this would be to use the Superdom as it updates every 25ms with bid/ask plotting here as well.
