    Live connection is forgetting credentials

    For some reason when I go back and forth between my VPS and my personal computer quite frequently my configured connection is losing my saved credentials.

    This is a bit of a nuisance as I am already going through multiple layers of MFA and secure codes etc only to have to go dig up and reconfigure yet another password when I finally get in. Is this a bug or is it by (extremely poor) design?

    Thank you very much for your post.

    Is it possible the Documents folder between both PCs is shared? If so, this would be expected.

    If NinjaTrader is not certain whether the last PC it shut down on is the same it launches on, it will remove your live credentials to ensure no third party gains access to your data, e.g. if they have copied your Documents folder or have gained access to a backup file.

    I would highly suggest keeping the NinjaTrader installations individual, as this should then not occur. Individual subfolders, such as the workspaces or templates folder in the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 folder could still be shared between both PCs without affecting them negatively.

    Of course, please don't hesitate to let me know, should they not be shared or if you have any further questions in this regard!

      It's a completely isolated machine from my home computer. A completely isolated installation. I'm already using 2 factor authorization to log into server control. Then a password to log into Windows. Then a password to log into Ninjatrader. At least let the saved credentials not be tampered with so I don't have to then go look up and enter a 4th password because this is something I go through every day.

        If not OneDrive then some other thing e.g. Google Drive, Acronis, etc. is overwriting your files in Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 quite possibly.

          There is absolutely nothing else running on or attached to that machine other than the Ninjatrader installation. That's the only thing it is being used for. No shared folders. No shared services. Nothing else.

            So that I may investigate I would ask that you contact me by email at PlatformSupport [AT] NinjaTrader [DOT] com. In your message please include a link to this forum thread and a copy of today's trace files. You will find these diagnostic files in the Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > Trace folder. I will need to review a copy of the files which are named 'trace.20231130.XXXXX.txt'. There will likely be multiple files for each day.​
