    Error on Openning NT Editor

    Dear Support,

The past couple of days when I open the NT Editor the following error is generated. As far as I know, I have not made any recent changes to platform or files to cause this error. The same error is generated in my Log file without any explanation.

What can I do to correct or prevent this error?

    Many thanks!

What a coincidence. I just post about exactly that folder that in my opinion doesn't seem necessary to generate it. Did you delete it? Perhaps NT8 is programmed to read that folder at the beginning and that triggers the error.

Perhaps run the Repair option from Windows?

No, I did not delete the file. I just opened the file and it contains many of my codes under development that will not compile due to being incomplete or contain some programing errors that prevent their compilation. These are usually listed and checked inside the editor as "Exclude From Compilation." Perhaps the Editor refers to Strategyanalyzerlogs file to list these codes requiring additional work in editor so that can be made to compile.

I believe all files under Documents and this folder reside on your computer as private where all your custom work is. I do not think that NinjaTrader is after such information to be worry about. It is just a nuance and curious if I am actually missing some files containing my incomplete code work.

        Cheers!

Well, something doesn't add up. In my case, that folder is full of realized backtests done with compiled sourced code, and not only the results but also the sourced code that originated them, so I don't understand what you affirm. Despite the fact that you believe your source code is private because is in your local C, still, they're opened within a folder as a text.files. That's not cool safe. I want this to be addressed as soon as possible.

Well, I'll be looking forward to the answers to your issue from support

          Regards

            Thanks,

This is a NinjaTrader issue. Could you please elaborate how this is done inside the Window and fixes the NT issue?

              In Windows Control Panel,
              goto Programs and Features applet,
Click on 'NinjaTrader' in list of installed programs
You should see buttons at top for Uninstall and Repair

              Click on Repair.

Whether it fixes the NT issue is unknown until you try it.

My thinking is this: whenever there are complaints of strange
errors with the platform, I always think it best to make sure
the platform software is installed correctly -- the Repair option
is the one way to achieve that. It makes NT8 verify and redo
(as necessary) lots of basic setup things.

              Just my 2˘.

In a clean, new installation, that folder is in Documents -> NinjaTrader 8 and is empty. So, you could just create a new folder there with that name and it would accomplish the same thing.

But I agree with bltdavid - if in doubt, repair it.

                    bltdavid, QuantKey_Bruce , NinjaTrader_DrewO,

                    Thank you all:

                    1. I am still using 8.0.27.1 version and do not trust the "Repair" process that could mess up my installation, considering all the issues with migration to newer 8.0.28, and 8.1 versions.

                    2. I did have an empty folder under Documents > NinjaTrader 8. That is why the error said part of the Strategyanalyzerlogs file was missing.

                    3. I did check the Log file. It included the same error message (post #1) with no additional information. So, I am not sure if sending Log file will help anything.

                    How I resolved the issue:

I found an old Strategyanalyzerlogs folder under one of my weekly backup files that was not empty. I copied and transferred the contents (all my unfinished and un-compiled code files) to my current folder, and that fed the monster , and no more errors. It turns out this folder is only important if you want to work on your "Excluded" unfinished code work files and compile them inside the NinjaTrader Editor.

Just a pet issue, not in the Subject:

Now, if NT cares enough to expedite developing a post transition TDA/Schwab API, that is something to cheer about. The consensus is that the current API should stay functional until a new one is available for use.

                    Cheers!
