"Unhandled exception: The data area passed to a system call is too small"

Hello support!


After updating to latest NT8 version I am getting "Unhandled exception: The data area passed to a system call is too small".

The WFO still finishes, but I would like to understand why this happens. See attached trace and log files.

Thank you for your post.

For security reasons it's not allowed to post log and trace files on the forum, so it was removed by our forum administrator.

Please try renaming your database, following steps below:

• Shutdown NinjaTrader, and navigate to the Windows File Explorer (Windows Key + E)
• Go to the Documents/NinjaTrader 8/db folder
• Right-click on "NinjaTrader.sqlite" and rename it to "NinjaTrader OLD.sqlite"
• When you restart NinjaTrader, a fresh database file will automatically be created by the software.
• Unfortunately, the following items stored in the old database will be lost - custom Trading Hours templates, custom Instruments/Instrument Lists, historical trade execution data, and saved Strategy Analyzer backtest results

Then try testing the same thing using the Sample MA Crossover strategy (available by default) and see if the same error message appears.

If you continue to experience the same, please email us your log and trace files right from the NinjaTrader platform (by going to Help-> Email Support), so we may investigate this matter further. Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.
