    Big tick chart loads slowly

Hi guys, I use a very big chart (40,000 ticks) for swing trading and context. This chart spans several weeks and is very useful, attaching example.

When reconnecting after a brief disconection, it will take a lot of time to re-load this chart. Is because it is reloading historical data or maybe it rebuilds all the candles? I would think the previous candles are stored in memory.

Is there something I can do to get faster load times for this big chart?

    Thanks!!

    Hello voltation,

Thank you very much for your post.

While the historical data is indeed saved locally, the chart itself and the existing candles are rebuilt upon opening the chart or switching the instrument.

With 40,000 values per candle, this can, unfortunately, take some time.

The only way to significantly improve this would be by lowering the days it loads, depending on how far back the history should go.

Please don't hesitate to let me know, should you have any further questions!

The previous candles are not reused.

This is a case where the fastest CPU
      (single-core performance wise) will
      make the biggest difference.

A super fast NVME SSD drive will
      also help make a difference.

I presume you have top of the line
      hardware -- meaning you spent
mucho dinero on these two very
critical parts of your trading machine?

Thanks Manfred. Yes if I leave the PC running with chart open it keeps all the candles, but if I let it run for more than 12 hours sometimes NT freezes... Is there any config I can tweak to avoid NT freezing after 12 hours or so? Thanks!!

For your reference, I loaded a 180,000 tick chart with 100 days of data, using Kinetick which I referenced quite a lot years ago, , it took 2 minutes to load. Anyway I think I`ll go back to referencing that chart, very useful. It probably loads quicker if I used my VPS. I dont use candles I only use HLC, and wave volume, tick counter, no other indicators.

Hey bltdavid, nada de dinero! I'm using a very old laptop... I've been trading price action (mack) so don't really need much hardware, it only loads one day with 2k tick candles. But this 40k tick chart is awesome and eye opening! Now I'm forced to buy a new one haha!! thanks for the advice in hardware specs!

Sounds neat!!! Yes you are right I was testing 160,000 ticks also great but fewer signal bars. Loading time 2 minutes is acceptable
