Back test Not Working with Downloaded Data

    Hello,

I downloaded several years of tick data for S&P mini futures to do some back-testing. The data is formatted correctly and works just fine when I go to playback mode: I can load any date I want, play it back, run my strategy, etc. When I try to do a "Strategy Analyzer" for the same date range with the same strategy on the same data, I don't get any results.

As a note (because I am sure some will say there is no data), when I click "run", it does take time to load (as if it is analyzing the data) and takes longer time to load when I select a longer date range (as apposed to instruments that have no data and load instantly). It is not that my strategy simply doesn't have any entries either...when I run the same strategy on the same date range in playback mode there are plenty of trades taken.

    What is going wrong here?

    Hello ElementTrader21,

Can you please check if you see the requested data if you set Display to Chart in the Strategy Analyzer?

If you test the 'Sample MA crossover' strategy on the same set of data, do you get results?

      Hi Jason,

When I display to chart, the chart shows up but there are no executions on it. The sample MA crossover does give results

        Hello ElementTrader21,

        Thank you for your reply.

So I may assist you more accurately, please answer all of the following questions:
        • What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.?.?.?)
        • Is this a strategy that you developed or one that was imported from a third party?
        • Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green in the lower-left corner of the Control Center window.
        • Are you connected to your data feed provider when running this test?
        • What instrument(s) (and expiry if applicable) have you selected?
        • What Data Series Type have you selected? Example: Tick, Minute, Day
        • What From and To date is selected?
        • Is your strategy a multi-instrument or multi-time frame strategy?
        • Do you receive an error on the screen after running the backtest on the strategy? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?
Thanks in advance; I look forward to further investigating this item.
