Not able to connect NT8 8.0.28.0 to TWS 10.25.1j – Yellow Dot

    Not able to connect NT8 8.0.28.0 to TWS 10.25.1j – Yellow Dot

    Hi All, Here is a challenging issue I am facing and seeking your expert help.

    NT 8 initiated TWS and autologins and TWS logins successfully. However, the yellow dot on the bottom left wont turn green and NT8 is not able to pull the IB account numbers and balances, meaning API is not able to make the connection. I tried so many things and nothing is working out. Here is what I tried so far:
    1. Ensured .Net 4.8 is installed.
    2. Ensured Correct port number 7496 and logon path for TWS in NT8 connection settings.
    3. Deleted Jts folder and made fresh installs of current version of TWS, prior version of TWS, and beta version of TWS. The issue persisted regardless of which version of TWS is being used.
    4. Tried NT8 8.0.27.1 as well as NT8 8.1, along with the one I am using which is 8.0.28.0. The issue persisted.
    5. Mine is IB advisor account with sub accounts. The log does not complain anything about other accounts but says “no position info is received for account UXXXX because the account application is processing”. But, it does not complain anything about other accounts. There are no Error messages other than that the yellow dot remains and it also shows yellow dot in “connection” with “disconnect” next to it.
    6. None of the accounts from IB TWS are available in NT8 accounts tab
    7. I use Kinetic for data and NT8 connects to Kinetic fine and gets data and shows green dot for that connection immediately.
    8. I have tried this on two different VPS servers and the issue persisted and replicated.
    I have a life time license for NT8 with multi broker support and this has been working fine for the last few years. Appreciate any ideas to make the API connection work. Thank you.

    Thank you for posting.

    With the current version of NinjaTrader, it is critical that you use TWS version 10.23.2a. Please uninstall your existing version via the Windows Control Panel, and then install 10.23.2a via the following link:Once TWS 10.23.2a has been installed, please ensure that the configuration in our Connection Guide for TWS has been completed at the link below.​Please let me know if the issue persists after this procedure.

      Chris, thank you for the response. Please note that I am using NT 8.0.28.0 which is a previous stable version that does not require me to login every time I restart the VPS and current version of NT is 8.1.1.7.

      As you suggested, I downloaded and installed TWS 10.23.2a and followed the connection guide settings. Unfortunately, the issue persisted. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas to solve this problem. Thank you.

          Chris, sent the email with trace and log files as instructed. Hoping for a solution asap. Trace file does show all the account numbers from IB TWS, meaning it is able to connect and read the data from TWS but somehow failing to finish establishing the connection and to turn the yellow dot to green dot. Thank you.

            This issue has been resolved and posting the cause of the problem and solution here for future reference for others.
            This is indeed a very strange problem. This issue is specific to people who has an advisor account at IB with client sub accounts. In this case, a client is in the process of opening a new account but did not finish final step of uploading a couple of documents as a result the account status was pending. Normally, this should not cause any issue in API connection. However, the following error was received.

            2023-10-03 15:18:59:539 (IB Prod) IB.Adapter.OnError: id=610 errorCode='10275' errorMessage='Positions info is not available for account(s): UXXXXXX57 until the application is finished and approved.'

            I asked the client to finish the application by uploading the documents and the account is set and approved now and I also closed other pending/abandoned applications on IB. So, now the API connection works fine and the issue is resolved.
