    Window freezes when opening indicators.

This happens intermittently and for all tabs in the window. The other windows are not affected. I then need to reboot NT.
There are never any errors recorded in the log, and the issue doesn't occur if I'm not connected to the data service, CQG.
    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hello sgordet ,

    Thank you for the post.

It sounds like adding the indicators is causing the issue, either through overwhelming your setup or that they may not be optimized. Which indicators are you trying to add? Are they preconfigured in the platform or third party ones that you had to import?

If they are third party, you would need to contact the developer directly to determine if there is a newer, more optimized version of their product for use with the version of NinjaTrader you are using.

I would recommend creating a new workspace (with no other workspaces running) and building a chart that is exactly the same and testing your setup to determine if you can replicate the behavior. If you are only using preconfigured indicators and nothing else third party, it may just be a performance issue.

Generally performance issues will be caused by a workspace placing too large of a load on your computer’s resources. While there are many things that can affect performance, below are the most common causes that can be addressed without altering your workspace’s functionality.
    • For tick based charts or charts with indicators using tick data, be sure to limit the ‘days to load’ to as few as possible, preferably less than 3 if possible. To change this, right click the chart and select ‘data series’ and decrease the ‘days to load’ option.
    • Try closing any unused charts and removing any unneeded indicators.
    • Ensure only one workspace is open at a time. Hover over the NinjaTrader 8 icon on the Windows Taskbar to see if your charts are there. You can open other workspaces by going to the Control Center -> Workspaces -> Click on the workspace you want to open. If you're not sure what this list means and how to tell if a workspace is open, in view, or closed, please visit the following help guide link:
    • If using ‘Tick Replay’ try turning this off on as many charts as possible.

If you are still experiencing issues, it’s possible a particular custom script is encountering a performance issue. If you suspect this is the case, we usually recommend removing any scripts you suspect may be causing an issue to see if the issue persists without it.

Other performance tips are listed below in our help guide as well:
