    Hello jason.turner.72,

The connection error indicates either the username/password is invalid or there is no internet connection. I assume you have internet connection or else you could not log into the NinjaTrader Desktop platform. Can you please proceed as per the steps below.
    • Go to Control Center-->Connections and click configure in the lower right corner.
    • Select your connection in the Configured box in the lower left corner.
    • Re-enter your username and password on the right. If you copy/paste the information, please make sure no additional spaces are added.
    • Click OK and check if you can connect
If the issue remains, please contact the evaluation service that provided the Rithmic username and password and check if they are valid. We can't check this on our end.

      Welcome to the forums!

Since it appears you may be brand spanking new, yeah, you
      probably screwed up typing something.

Don't type, like NT says, use copy/paste and make sure no
extra spaces are picked up when you select the text.

Otherwise, it is useful to know:
That error message is super generic, and you may see it again
on occasion when Rithmic servers are down, such as on weekends.

NT doesn't have the brains to setup a generic website that keeps
track of server availability, for their own servers or for others --
even now that they've circled the wagons around their own NT
brokerage and reduced access to other brokers -- experienced
users are still very much in the same wild west of figuring out login
problems themselves -- even when that error is lying.

Just fyi -- the above answer from NT support is spot-on, but that's
only because you're probably a newbie.

      My point is:
Many people who see this message on weekends are equally
surprised and confused as to their login/password all of a
sudden being incorrect, when in fact, it's the weekend and
various servers are probably under going maintenance.

If a brand new user is trying to setup their connection for the
first time over a weekend, they may see the same error msg,
but their is no way of knowing the truth -- did they make a
mistake or is it just server maintenance?

Weekend maintenance is something that must be assumed
but can never be confirmed -- because NT has never bothered
to build infrastructure to advise users of these events.

      Moral of the story:
Connections are best configured when markets are open,
otherwise login error messages are not trustworthy.

      Just my 2˘.

bltdavid I remember when I was new to NT Brokerage and saw the same error (it was CQG), I thought something happened to my account. 4 years later and nothing changed.
