strategies and SIM accounts are gone when restoring from NT8 backup file

I had to restore my Ninjatrader from a backup file, but now all of my strategies and SIM accounts inside my workspace are gone. I had about 30 strategies and 30 SIM accounts running different strategies with historical trading data. How can I get that again without losing all that data and having to re-create each of the strategies?

Going forward - how can I ensure that all of my strategies are backedup inside my workspace.

Thanks for your post.

When exporting the backup file you would need to ensure that the 'NinjaScript files' option is checked. This would include the NinjaScript indicators or strategies in your backup file. You should also make sure to check the 'Workspaces' and 'Templates' options when creating a backup.

If you do not see the strategies in the Strategies window of your platform when trying to enable the scripts, you will need to import the strategies on your platform by going to Tools > Import > NinjaScript AddOn.

Then add the strategies to your workspaces and save the workspace.

I did a full NT8 backup with all ninjascript files, workspaces, etc... checked.

But the strategies and sim accounts did not import with the fresh install. Big pain to set them all up again unless you can show me a way to recover them with my backup.

To clarify, do you see the NinjaScript strategies in the 'Available' section of the Strategies window when trying to enable a strategy on a chart?

Right-click on a chart window, select 'Strategies', check the 'Available' section of the Strategies window and note if the strategies in questions appear and report your results.

If the strategies are not shown, please write in to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with a brief description of your question and include your backup file so we may look into this matter further. Backup files can typically be found in the Documents\NinjaTrader 8 Backup folder on your PC. In the subject of your email include ATTN: BrandonH and in the body of the email include a link to this forum thread.

Also, follow the steps below to attach your Log and Trace files to your email so we may investigate futher.

• Open your NinjaTrader folder under, "Documents" (sometimes called, "My Documents")
• Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
• Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
• Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.
