Trade Topstep Rithmic account and Live Ninjatrader Account
Hey traders, I am currently trading Topstep via the Rithmic for Ninjatrader brokerage connection. I want to open a live Ninjatrader account but trade both my Rithmic Topstep and live Ninjatrader account. Can I connect both connections at the same time and use a trade copier to trade both? Do I need a multi broker license? Also what data feed do Live Ninjatrader accounts use? -

It's now called the Multiple Broker Add-On.
My experience on this is a bit dated, but I think the ultimateOriginally posted by bkmtrades View PostAlso what data feed do Live Ninjatrader accounts use?
source of their real-time data may be Continuum or CQG.
(But I think their historical data servers get their data
from IQFeed.)
When configuring your NTB connection, you'll either use
the 'Continuum' adapter, or the newer 'NinjaTrader' adapter.
Most everything you'll need to know is here.
But this doesn't really matter. If you're trading both
Topstep and NTB accounts, your charts will only use
one of the live data feeds from those connections. If
you want to use Topstep/Rithmic for all your charts,
that's not a problem, you can always define a preferred
market data connection.
[When configuring account Connections, internally they
come with a data feed and an order feed. The data
feed part is fungible, meaning it can be ignored in favor
of a different data feed from a different Connection.
It is the order feed part that is used when trading the
account -- to trade multiple order feeds at the same
time means you have the Multi-Provider option enabled
in the desktop, as well as the Multiple Broker Add-On
feature enabled for your NinjaTrader.com account.]
And, if you really want to, you can always subscribe to
Kinetic or IQFeed and get your real-time data feed that
way.

So here's an issue I can't seem to figure out forever. I got a lifetime NT license way before 2023, so their MultiBroker Addon is supposedly included. I also have "Multi-provider" enabled in my NT settings. I get level 2 CME datafeed from Rithmic (via Apex PA account). So "Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage" is set as my preferred connections for Futures for both real-time and historical.Originally posted by bltdavid View Post

I also have a small NTB live account. I connected it with NinjaTrader connection. And my live charting works fine. But if I try placing an order on my live NTB account (say limit sell or whatever), I get an error "Your account is not subscribed to the data feed associated with this contract. blah, blah."
NT support keep telling me that I need to subscribe and pay them for their data. But why? I already have datafeed. I just need an "order feed" as you say. And it is supposed to be included with my lifetime NT license, isn't it?
Well, come to think about it. I am not sure what Ninjatrader's current Multiple Broker add-on is supposed to do. But by clicking on the list of "supported brokers" for that add-on, all I can see is:- cTrader
- FOREX.com/City Index
- FXCM and Interactive Brokers
Well, my Rithmic is not on the list. is this why my live NTB account (on "Ninjatrader" connection) rejects my orders? Ninjatrader support seems to be useless to offer any explanation. Hopefully anyone here can shed some light. Thanks in advance

Let's back up a bit.
Did you import that Lifetime License Key into your member account
at NinjaTrader.com? I mean that specific key, the one you purchased
before 2023? Does your member dashboard at NinjaTrader.com
reflect the Multi Broker feature is enabled?
See attached screenshot on how to check for that.

Btw, NinjaTrader.com website says this,
<<<scroll towards the bottom>>>
"All customers that have purchased a Lifetime License Key
prior to March 4, 2023 have the Multiple Broker Add-on
activated at no additional cost and do not need to subscribe
to the Multiple Broker Add-on separately."
This statement does not differentiate between a Multi-Broker
vs Single-Broker Lifetime License Key, so I am assuming any
Lifetime License Key purchased before 4-Mar-2023 meets
the criteria.
Can you confirm your Lifetime License Key was purchased
before March 4, 2023?

Good to know.
Now let me explain something else.
Inside my member dashboard at NinjaTrader.com, when
I click on the 'View supported brokerages' link, it shows,
cTrader
FOREX.com/City Index
FXCM
Interactive Brokers
but when I goto the the desktop software, and click on
the 'Configure' link inside the Connections menu, I see
a lot more connections than brokerages.
See attached screenshots.
My point is, to effectively gauge what the 'Multi Broker
AddOn' is really providing, you have to look at both.
-=o=-
What the Connections 'Configure' menu is showing you is
your available connection types, which are also known as
connection adapters. An adapter may or may not be
associated with a brokerage (some brokerages, like IB,
have their own adapters). The point of the 'Multi Broker
Addon', like the M/B license before it, is not about connecting
to multiple brokers, it is about connecting through multiple
broker technologies. An adapter represents a connection
technology, which usually (but not always) has both a
data feed and order feed component. It is guaranteed
that each adapter will have at least one component. Most
connection adapters for accounts provide both, but an adapter
cannot support trading in an account without that order feed
component.
Having said that, IMHO, NT mgmt may be trying to evolve the
meaning of the term 'Multiple Brokers' more towards just referring
to the list of available brokers you see in your member dashboard.
That is, I think the list of available Connection types (remember,
an adapter is not a broker, it is a broker technology) are more
legacy from the old pre-Tradovate era, but naturally must still be
supported in the new post-Tradovate period. Why do I think this?
Because it seems like the member stuff I see at NinjaTrader.com
reflects NT mgmt's future direction a little bit more than the 'legacy'
things I see in NT's desktop software. So, for now, that's why
knowing all this extra background stuff is helpful -- the M/B addon
means a lot more than just those supported brokers in that new
'official' list in your NinjaTrader.com member dashboard.

On a final note, it is strange to me why orders placed in
your NinjaTrader Brokerage account would be rejected.
I don't know enough details (like, which instrument are
you trying to trade that produces that error?), but on the
face of it, yes, it sounds very odd, esp if we're just talking
about futures instruments here. (One good test is this:
If the entry order is accepted by Apex, is the same entry
order rejected by NTB?)
Ultimately, your issue is untenable, and you must continue
to escalate your complaints until the problem gets properly
recognized and resolved.
Lastly, buying the data feed package from NT shouldn't be
affecting your order rejected problem. I mean, your data
feed could be coming from Kinetick or IQFeed, it should
not be strictly necessary that it must come from NinjaTrader.
I hope you get the issue causing your error message
resolved soon.
Hang in there!

yes, it is an annoying issue, and NT support so far has been useless. Instrument is just ES. No problem putting orders on my Apex Rithmic accounts (or Apex tradavate accounts, I have few of them too).Originally posted by bltdavid View PostGood to know.

But rejection errors come for my NTB live account. For purpose of illustration, I just connected my NT, placed an order (doesn't matter market is not open now, it happens at all times) and attaching screenshots. You can see for yourself

Btw, NT support (the NT folks who respond on these forums
and those who answer the support [at] NinjaTrader emails),
are not the same as the NT Brokerage support folks.
I think these are completely different teams.
Which NT support folks have you been in contact with?
I would think the NT brokerage support folks are the ones
you should be shouting at -- this is, after all, your NinjaTrader
Brokerage account that is not functioning properly.
IMHO, it's a configuration issue with your brokerage account,
and needs to be resolved by NT brokerage support. If you
are not getting satisfaction, you should escalate until you do.
Just my 2˘.
