Share Email with Protonmail Bridge not working

I'm trying to get my Protonmail account working as the default email share via the Protonmail Bridge

the Bridge SMTP settings are

HostName 127.0.0.1
Port 1025
Security STARTTLS

the share setup uses SSL...is that a problem?


I'm getting this error

There was an error sending a mail message: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:1025

Your settings differ from what Proton has written in this article about STMP access:

• https://proton.me/support/smtp-submission

Please follow the steps in the article to create an 'STMP Token' and then enter the settings provided into our platform:
SMTP host: smtp.protonmail.ch
Port: 587
SSL/TLS encryption: Enable

I have a personal paid account with Protonmail

that option is only for business customers

the setting I put above is for a bridge that my computer uses for IMAP / SMTP .

the bridge runs as a service on my trading computer...for example, if I want to use Thunderbird to access my Protonmail account it works fine (with the bridge) for IMAP or SMTP.....

You may want to contact Proton to see if their Bridge application can be configured to use SSL, rather than STARTTLS.
Proton Bridge may not be compatible with our platform. They list supported email clients here:

• https://proton.me/support/clients-supported-bridge

If their product is compatible with third party clients, they may be able to help you troubleshoot.

the bridge uses STARTTTLS....I don't see another option but will ask them

Thunderbird works OK, but I use it with IMAP
