    Diffculty using lifetime License to Ninjatader8 reinstallation

    Hi,
    Recently I was attempting to provide a strategy to a client. When the import process was initiated Ninjatrader did not allow it. An error indicating that Custom scripts need to be repaired before continuing was appearing. Upon further examination there were several DLLs that the compiler was trying to find but where not present. (see images for futher details). The client has verson 8.1.1.6 installed.

    1. I opted to put the source code on his machine and compile it. No luck, could not even compile the sampleStrategy.

    2. We then wiped the v8.1.1.6 installation and re-installed it, again SAME error appeared and again we could not compile nor do anything like that.

    3. We uninstalled version 8..1.1.6 and tried version 8.0.27. Great no errors were noted and we were able to import and compile with no issues, however, his lifetime license was not present. We logged into his account (via the website) to see if we could export a copy of the license but could not find anything on the site that provided this info. He didn't recall if he got the license via mail or how he had previously imported it when he first installed Ninja.

    Thank you for your post.

    NinjaTarder 8.1.1.7 is the latest version of the platform, 8.1.1.6 is no longer supported, so it was the right call to install 8.1.1.7.

    There is no license key within the new version of the NinjaTrader Desktop and all enablements are now done on the username used to login the platform, which is also the username for the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.

    If your customer just recently started using the NinjaTrader platform, he may not have a license key, since we don't issue licenses any longer.

    If he has been using it for a while (over a year) and has a license key, have your client login to the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard and import his NinjaTrader license key, following these instructions: https://support.ninjatrader.com/s/ar...language=en_US
    Once it's been imported, he would need to restart his Ninja Trader platform and login, using his username for the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.

    If your customer has any further questions, please have him email us right from the NinjaTrader platform, by going to Control Center>Help>Email support.​

      Sorry I meant that the clients version was 8.1.1.7.

      I will ask him how long he has been using it. So here my question. If no more license keys are provided then how does one import a key??
      As stated above we tried to find an export function on the site after he logged in but there was only an IMPORT Button.


      OK let me rephrase my questions. It seems that we are not understanding each other . So here are two different scenarios.

      1. Right now, if we install v8.1.1.7 the client continues to get the SAME ERRORS as shown above. This despite clearing all folders or anything that remained from any previous installation.
      His login works fine, and he gets all the features that correspond to the LIFETIME LICENSE but he cannot IMPORT or COMPILE any scriptand he cannot connect to any data accounts that the license would allow.​

      Or lets try this approach

      2. So how about trying to install and use v8.0.27 (which requires no login), how can they transfer their LIFETIME license key over to that??

      3. Since you mention that the license can be imported, does that mean that he received a license code via email??

        To resolve programming errors on his platform, he would need to completely reinstall the platform (renaming NinjaTrader folder under Documents on his PC to NinjaTraderOLD and uninstalling NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel) or email to us directly.

        Regarding the license, if he purchased it when it was still available and it was issued to the client, he can import it to the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard.​ If he never purchased it, there is nothing to import.

        To assist him with connection setup, please have him email us right from the NinjaTrader platform, by going to Control Center>Help>Email support.​

          Thnx for the update. Yes, we reinstalled N8, with the older folder then also without the old foldr. etc etc. The big issue is that somehow any N8 install (with or without the DOCS/N8 Folder) keeps detecting those old DLLs that do not exist anywhere on the machine. I am tempted to have them wipe his drive LOL!!

          No worries, when he gets back from out of country, I'll have him dig out the license or whatever. We'll figure this out...
