NT8 latest release 8.1.1.7: Unable to configure a new connection + log-on question.

    Hello guys,

New trading rig and I just downloaded the latest NT8 release.

    1) I'm unable to configure a connection under "Connections". The configure button is missing. Is this moved to somewhere else? I'm not trading live at the moment, so I want to set up my IQ Feed connection to just receive data.

    2) No requirement to enter license key? Is this done automatically by logging on?

    3) Do I really need to type log-on information each time I launch the software?

    4) If yes on 3), can I use an older version instead?

    Thanks.

    Hello Johnny,

    Thank you for writing.

I am skipping your first three questions, because yes you would need to sign in every time you use the platform. So I will leave you instructions to downgrade to the only supported version of NinjaTrader 8.0.

Please follow the steps below to migrate from the 8.1 platform back to the 8.0 platform:
    • Make sure all versions of NinjaTrader are Closed
    • Go to the Windows Control Center > Click “Add/Remove Programs” (Sometimes “Uninstall a program” > Click NinjaTrader > Click Uninstall
    • Click Next through the prompts until it is finished uninstalling
    • Click the link below to directly download the Installer for version 8.0.28.0
    • After downloading, click on the file and Open or Run it > Click Next through the prompts until it is Finished installing
      • From here you can reopen NinjaTrader and continue using the platform like before.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

      Hi, Sean,

Okay, so I would need to sign in every time I use NT 8.1.7. Got it.

      1) If I want to keep 8.1.7 (which I would assume would be the recommended choice from NT officially) - how do I configure a new connection (IQ Feed) as the choice to configure new connections isn't showing up?

      2) Do I understand you correctly that I could simply avoid the log-on issue by using the older version (8.0.28)?

      Thank you.

        Hello Johnny,

        Thank you for writing.

Yes, you would avoid logging in on version 8.0.28.0. However, there is no recommended version if you like 8.0 please continue to use that version.

Below is a link to enable multi-provider in 8.1, which would make the 8.1 platform resemble what you are used to with the 'configure' button at the bottom of the connections menu.

Please visit the link below that goes over how to enable Multi Provider Mode on NinjaTrader Desktop.

        https://support.ninjatrader.com/s/ar...language=en_US

Then use this link for how to connect to IQ feed.

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

          Thank you, Sean.

Unless there are no particular benefits/improvements with 8.1 versus 8.0 I think I'll just stick with 8.0 for now then.

          Best regards.

You will find that this turns out to be a wise decision... And you are correct... there is no benefit at this time...

And to Ninjatrader support... How many more of these support forum questions are you guys going to have to field before you make the multi-provider "option" standard during the installation? It should be enabled by default so that "upgrading" isn't the hassle you've made it out to be... People really just want the features they had before and then new stuff to go along with it... That's really the definition of "New & Improved"...
