    Continuum Login Failures after Machine ID change

    Hi,

    Moved my old physical HDD to a new machine then updated to NT 8.1.1,6.

    I believe I saw "Machine ID change" notice when I first booted the system after moving HDD.

    Can no longer connect to continuum on this machine, receiving invalid user ID / password messages.

    Other machine I have been using @ work still connects to continuum without issue.

    How do I get the desktop app re-authorized?

    SOLUTION:

    I compared both machine's continuum credentials (Connections > Configure).

    The web login for brokerage account username differs from the brokerage account used by NT.

    Made the change, all is well, everything is now working.

      No, for anyone reading in the future, the Continuum credentials are not specific to a machine ID.

        Thank you for using NinjaTrader.


        When a Machine ID occurs, NinjaTrader automatically removes your username, password, and other sensitive information. This is a purposeful security feature meant to prevent others from being able to access your personal information simply by stealing your files and loading them onto another PC.

        NinjaTrader does not control your machine ID directly. Your Machine ID is generated by NinjaTrader based on your PC's fundamental hardware (like RAM, motherboard, etc.) and fundamental software (BIOS/UEFI version, Windows updates, firmware updates, etc.). If any of these items change, your Machine ID will also change. There is no way to manually change your Machine ID.

        If you are unsure of your NinjaTrader Continuum username or password, please write to [email protected] for assistance, or, if you have updated to NinjaTrader 8.1, we would instead recommend removing your NinjaTrader Continuum connection and replacing it with a basic 'NinjaTrader' connection using the same username and password as your NinjaTrader Account Dashboard​ to connect to your live account.
