Is it possible to have a chart render CALENDER days instead of TRADING days?

    Hello.

Is it possible to have charts that are based on TIME, whether that be Daily or 60M... that show all days, to include Saturdays, holidays, etc? I.e., if there is no data there, it would just have blank space.

Is there anyway to go about getting this display in NT?

I was thinking, I could create a "fake" symbol, and import data I've manipulated by adding in data on ALL calendar days, and if no data is there, I could just add it and set it equal to the last price. This may be ok, as I mostly want this to look at and play with historical data.

I can get similar effect when I create charts in Excel or Matlab, but those don't have the interactivity I would like.

If the question still doesn't make sense, attached is an example of what I mean.

    Hello forrestang,

Currently that would not be possible by any default settings. Any data that is missing is just not present on the chart. You would need some kind of datapoint such as a placeholder where all OHLC values are the same to be able to generate flat bars during those times. That would also effect other things on the chart like NinjaScript indicators. A simple example would be an SMA would include those placeholders to make a invalid average. IN addition to that you would have to make trading hours/ holiday templates that support what you are trying to do. Mainly removing the holidays from the trading hours you use.

Why would you want to do this?

I am not particularly worried about the values from the indies. I will probably just generate 'fake' data in Matlab, based on the date range I want, and check if data exists for the day, if not, pad it w/prior value.

But can you explain what you mean by 'removing holidays?' Once I have my fake data I want to import... How can I construct sort of an ultimate 24/7 template that just shows ALL days, what would I need to do?

          Hello forrestang,

You would need to make a trading hours template that excludes holidays if you wanted certain hours, the default 24/7 does not have any holidays defined. Most of the default templates include holiday trading hours.

You can import your custom data using the historical data manager https://ninjatrader.com/support/help.../importing.htm

I suppose I had that coming. It seemed like a rational question though.

Oh... I was being serious. I have a need for this and it is not about trading. I just realized I could leverage my trading platform to do something else I need.
