8.1.1.6 broke Alert criteria 'Cross Above' and 'Cross Below'

I just upgraded yesterday. Now, when I look at my existing Alerts (created before upgrade), or create a new alert, I can no longer specify "Bars Ago" and "Offset" parameters. They are grayed out. All other booleans still allow entry of "Bars Ago" and "Offset" fields.

This is the expected behavior when using CrossAbove and CrossBelow for Alert conditions in NinjaTrader 8.1. This can be seen in the NinjaTrader Release Notes linked below under Issue # 15387, "Disable BarsAgo & Offset for CrossAbove / Below in Strategy Builder and Alerts as only the series is ever compared".

This is done because CrossAbove and CrossBelow conditions compare only the indicator value to see if a cross above or cross below occurs based on the look-back period you set.

Thanks Brandon. I will learn about the lookback period. I have always had that set to '1'. Does lookback period '1' mean lookback 1 bar?

Yes, the look-back period is the number of bars back to check the cross below condition. If the look-back period is set to 1, this would look back 1 bar to check for the cross below condition.

If the look-back period is set to 5, this would look back 5 bars to check for the cross below condition.
