Some Machine ID for PC and VPS

Hello, I run a pc for strategy optimization and a VPS on which the strategies run. I installed the nt8 on both. if both nt8 are never open at the same time, is it possible to operate both with the same machine ID?

Hello Lopat,

The machine id is based on the machines hardware, if you use items that require machine id registration you would need to contact the vendor to activate a second machine ID for the product you are using. You could then use it on either PC.

It was once the case that machine IDs were not completely unique. (In other words, several of us had seen several duplicates in our time using NinjaTrader, even if it was uncommon.) Has that been resolved in 8.1 or is that still an issue?

That would be very uncommon but if that happened you can use the alternate machine ID which includes a username to make a unique id for that machine. In the question that was posed the home PC won't have the same machine ID as the VPS so they would need to contact the vendor to register the second pc.

NinjaTrader_Jesse Thank you. Is the username itself accessible from NinjaScript (even in an undocumented or unsupported way)?

And separately, when you say "alternate machine id" - there used to be a MachineId2 but I don't see that in the auto-complete for NinjaTrader.Cbi.UserEntitlement. Is that what you mean or what do you mean in NinjaScript terms by "alternate machine id"?
