ATM randomly opening trades
anyone else have this happen before? ive had it happen to me a couple times. so i entered 2 long contracts at then i shut my laptop as i have to drive home but my atm strategy is to sell one contract at 20 pts and the other at 30 pts. watching on my phone both targets are hit so im happy. then when i log back on it randomly had opened two short contracts at what my stop was from the previous trade that had been closed already. so i immediately close it when i log back on for a big loss. why did this happen when my trade should have been closed already for profit? it works perfectly when i keep my computer open.Tags: None

Hello fishman22,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader support forum community.
CRITICAL — If your inquiry involves live orders, please always reach out to your broker's Orders Desk immediately to confirm and manage your live orders and positions.
So I may accurately assist you, please answer all of the following questions:- What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.?.?.?)
- Who is your broker?
- Did you receive an error on the screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center? If so, what do these errors report?

Sounds like https://ninjatrader.com/support/help...to_reverse.htm
but this is pretty much why I think trading inside a VPS is much better NinjaTrader is up and running the entire time even when my home computer is off

no there were no error on the screen or in the log tab
Thank you for that information.
First, I see that you're using an older version of NinjaTrader Desktop. To update NinjaTrader to version 8.0.28.0 or 8.1.1.6, please visit the link below for steps on how to update to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop.
Note: Updating NinjaTrader Desktop will not affect any custom configurations, workspaces, or add-ons.

As for the unexpected orders being filled, this has to do with OCO (one cancels other) orders and how they behave. With ATM strategies, the stops and targets are tied together with an OCO ID so that when one order is filled, the paired orders are canceled. The thing with Rithmic is that OCO is simulated locally on your PC; NinjaTrader must remain open and connected to the internet for the platform to send the cancellations when one of the OCO orders is filled. Otherwise, when you close your laptop and NinjaTrader is disconnected, both the stops and targets will remain open and working without being canceled even if one of the orders is filled. For more information on where your orders reside, please see the following page:
We also have an ATM strategy FAQ that mentions NinjaTrader must be connected for ATMs to work properly:
Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.
