I think it helps to realize that Apex is both a Rithmic-based prop
firm and a Tradovate-based prop firm.

When you subscribe to an evaluation account with Apex, you have
to specify if you want to use the NT desktop app, or you want to
use the NT web app (which is Tradovate).

Your subscription is tied to one or the other, it does not transecnd
across both apps, and you can't switch your subscription from one
app to the other after purchase.

    Apex is the evaluation service.

For eval accts using the NT desktop:
You setup your Apex connection using the 'Rithmic for NinjaTrader
    Brokerage' connection type.

[It's late, will have to finish my studies on this later]

      Hello bltdavid and jeronymite,

      Thanks for your notes.

You will have access to the Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage connection after importing the license key into the NinjaTrader Client Dashboard.

Only one connection to any Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage connections is allowed at a time. Any "Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage" connections cannot run simultaneously due to the limitations of the adapter.

The 'NinjaTrader' connection type does not support the connection needed for Rithmic-based prop firms.

The 'NinjaTrader' adapter is the new connection that new users use to connect to CQG. This opens up the server-side account features that are new with that connection such as server-side commissions, server-side ATM's, account dashboard tools, and reporting.

'Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage' connects to Rithmic data and their servers whereas the 'NinjaTrader' connection is CQG based.

The 'Rithmic' connection will not be available if you purchase the Multi-Broker AddOn. The Multi-Broker AddOn will give access to cTrader, FOREX.com/City Index, FXCM, Interactive Brokers, and TD Ameritrade. This can be seen by clicking the 'View supported brokers' link on the "Multiple Broker Add-on for Desktop Platform' section of the NinjaTrader Client Dashboard.

"Apex allows users to use Tradovate or the Desktop, but you have to specify which kind of evaluation you want before purchase."

      That is correct.

For evaluation firms, you should contact your evaluation provider directly about which one you are setup to use and if they recommend a particular connection for their evaluation accounts.
