Playback Connection not working

    Playback Connection not working

    I've followed all the links and processes to run the playback connection but it will just not work. I seem to connect but the charts simply do not move. I tried to email support through the program but NT says I cannot send the email. Unchecking "Log and trace files" does not help either. Help please.

    Welcome to the NinjaTrader Forums and thanks for your post.

    What version of NinjaTrader are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.?.?)​

    Do you have Market Replay data downloaded in the Tools > Historical Data window for the instrument that you are wanting to use with Playback?

    Before downloading Market Replay data please note:
    • Enable market recording for playback must be disabled from the Market Data category of the Options menu before downloading replay data.
    • Downloading Market Replay data is NOT available when connected to the Playback connection. You must disconnect from the Playback connection prior to downloading.
    To download playback data:
    1. Select the Tools menu in the Control Center, select the menu item Historical Data and select "Load" tab. Here the section "Get Market Replay data" can be expanded.
    2. Select the instrument and date of the desired replay data and press the OK button to begin the download.
    The status of the download will appear in the lower right-hand corner of the Historical Data Window.

    To connect to Market Replay data:
    1. Left mouse click on the Connections menu in the Control Center
    2. Select the menu item Playback Connection menu item
    The Playback connection should now be connected and the Playback control window will appear.

    Note that if you are trying to use Historical Data with Playback instead of Market Replay data, you must download Historical Tick data in the Historical Data window and set the Playback window to 'Historical'.

      Version 8.0.27.0

      I've retried everything as per this message but my charts are still not moving.

      Is it necessary to always open a new chart? I have been trying to use an existing Workspace chart.

            What's the date that the chart is stuck on? And what's the instrument?

                I've downloaded ES06-23 for 5/8, 5/9, 5/10, 5/11, 5/12 and 5/13 and when Playback starts, it says, 05/05/2023. I changed the start up date to 5/8/2023 and it seems to be working. I think maybe you got it with the date. Thank you.

                  Thanks for your notes.

                  I see that you are using an older version of NinjaTrader. Please update NinjaTrader to the most recent release by following the steps below.

                  To update NinjaTrader
                  • Shutdown all programs including NinjaTrader *important
                  • Download NinjaTrader from the link below
                  • Double click the downloaded file to execute it
                  • Follow the on screen instructions
                  • Restart NinjaTrader

                  That said, I see you got Playback working. Before using the Playback connection it is important to make sure that the 'Start date' in the Playback window is set to 5/8/2023 if this is the first date of Market Replay data that you are wanting to Playback on the chart. Also, ensure that the chart Data Series 'End date' setting is set to 5/8/2023.
