    Sending Strategy Templates

    Hello,

I am trying to send a saved template for a strategy to a friend with the same strategy on their NT. I send the file as an XML to them, they download/place in the very folder I sent mine from. It shows up under templates in their strategy but when they select it, it doesn't change anything. I tried having them compile as well but that didn't work either.

How does one get this to work?

    Thanks

    Hello StrongLikeBull,

Are they using the exact same strategy as you? If they put the template in the folder for a different kind of strategy that won't work to apply anything, it would be trying to apply settings to the original strategy type that you saved the template with.

      Hi Jesse,

Yes they are using the exact same strategy as me (I shared the file with them). Tried it with 2 friends and both times it shows up in the templates but doesn't actually change any of the parameters to what they should be or at all.

        Hello StrongLikeBull,

What parameters are you trying to save in the template? Are you also running the same version of the platform on both machines?

If this is a custom NInjaScript, it sounds as if some of your XML parameters may not be being serialized correctly. Do any error messages appear on the Log tab when you do this? Are any of your parameters something besides a string, an int, a double, an enum, or a bool?

Ah, not sure if they are the same version so I'd have to double check.

As far as parameters is all of these in the fields that have editable values

Honestly no idea and not sure what parameters types they are. I am just the strategy developer/trade and I know nothing about coding.

                Hello StrongLikeBull,

Did you make this in the strategy builder?

Do you see any errors in the control center log when you save or load the template?

I dont not make the strategy in terms of it being a ninja script add on. I found the pattern in the market and paid a company to translate my strategy into ninja code.

I did just try to add the template to the strategy and it did not give any error message in the log.

                    Hello StrongLikeBull,

If you have the code for the item and wanted to post it we could take a look to see if anything obvious is wrong. This would otherwise be something you need to bring up with the developer so it can be corrected to work like you had originally asked. If the script is not saving any values with the template that would likely be how it was coded causing that.

                      Sorry for the late reply.

Its saving the values for the template within my own PC, but when I send the XML file to my colleague the values aren't saved. It's quite odd.

                        Hello StrongLikeBull,

Are the recipients placing the template in a folder with the correct script name?

One suggestion would be to make a clean installation environment folder, import only the one script, create and save the template, then make a backup file with only NinjaScripts and templates selected. When the user imports the backup, this should guarantee that everything is imported into the correct location.

I think we saved the strategy as different names, could that cause it?

                            Hello StrongLikeBull,

Yes it has to be the same strategy, if the strategy has a different name you won't be able to use that template. They would need to import the same strategy with the same name.
