How to be able to load more than 2 years of data

    Hi,
wether Im using the Strategy Analyser or loading data directly on a chart, Im unable to get before October 2021. Is there a way to have more data and go further in the past for backtest purposes.

    Thanks !

    Who is your broker?
Are you trading stocks or futures?
Which instrument(s) are you interested in?
What kind of Historical data are you using?

The questions are important, because they can alter the
correct answer that applies to your specific case.

That said ... in general ...

If you're a NinjaTrader Brokerage user, or trading a Rithmic
based prop firm, and you're trading futures, the answer is
    fairly straightforward.

No matter if stocks or futures, there are 3 categories of
    Historical data: Tick, Minute, Day.

NinjaTrader maintains historical futures data for all 3 categories
in their own servers for its customers, and Rithmic customers.

Unfortunately, NinjaTrader's historical data servers only retain
so much data, then it gets 'too old' and drops off.

As for retention policies, NT Support has said,
    • historical tick data - 1 year
    • historical minute/day data - usually 10+ years
    • playback data - 90 days - Futures and Forex instruments only
These amounts may vary slightly depending on the specific instrument.

I suspect your charts are using Tick data.

To go beyond one year of historical tick data, you'd have to research
'historical tick data' and investigate the different providers.

I suspect Kinetick and IQFeed are probably your best bets, since
they are both directly supported by NinjaTrader. However, how far
back their historical data goes is not mentioned here, so you'll need
    to research that, too.

It's a bit of a quagmire. Access to lots of historical tick data can be
a big deal (or not) for some users. IMHO, NT's retention policies
with regard to historical tick data and playback data are not that
generous -- many users want much more than is provided.

    Good luck!

      Hello,

When using the strategy analyzer, data will be processed as far back as you have set or as far back as data is accessible on your machine. If you are reaching the limits of your historical data provider, you would need to download and import additional data to test further back. Below is a link to our help guide on this process if relevant:

Thanks a lot to both of you ! Im with Rithmic and either Tick data or not is checked I can get to the same dat which is still october 2021. External historical tick data is super expensive so I,ll give up on that. But I thanks you a lot for the information !
