    Error Message on Background

    Hi there,

    I have been getting this same error message every time I log in and I have absolutely no clue on how to fix it. Please see attached. Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hmmm. Have you updated to the latest version Release? I noticed that in the Release Notes there is reference to a newtonsoft.json issue being fixed, maybe that might help if you have not

      Or, if not, you need to post what version of NT this is about so it can be considered especially given we know there was a change in that area recently.

        Thank you, guys, for the help. The version of the NT I'm using is 8.0.27.1 64-bit.

          You say it's every time you log in. Have you tried doing a repair installation? Are there any third-party assemblies installed that might be involved?

              I've just downloaded the 8.1.1.3 version and it solved it but this new version requires a log-in where as the 8.0.27.1 didn't. I just had to click on the icon and I'm in. Do you know how to bypass this log-in function?

                There is currently no way to bypass the login. It has been a matter of great discussion and controversy since its’ introduction and Development are considering their position on it in light of the overwhelming push-back against it. A lot of muddled thinking and conflicting statements about why it was implemented (on the Desktop version) and cannot be disabled should the user so wish, technical and operational reasons it is impractical for some users’ use-case etc.

                  You could consider using version 8.0.28.0 instead, as it does not require a login each time you start up.

                    Thanks for your notes.

                    I am happy to hear you were able to resolve the error by updating the version of NinjaTrader to the most recent release.

                    NinjaTrader 8 version 8.1.1.3 does require you to input your login credentials each time you open NinjaTrader. We are tracking interest in an existing feature request ticket for the ability to remember your login credentials so that you would not have to input them each time NinjaTrader is opened. I have added your vote to this feature request. This request is being tracked under the number SFT-5780.

                    As with all feature requests, interest is tracked before implementation is considered, so we cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment. If implemented, it will be noted in the Release Notes page of the Help Guide.

                    As QuantKey_Bruce stated, you could consider using NinjaTrader 8 version 8.0.28.0 which does not require having to enter your login credentials each time NinjaTrader is opened.

                      Hi, Brandon. Thank you for your reply. I tried version 8.1.1.3 but somehow could not see my Apex accounts. So, I had to uninstall that version and installed version 8.0.28.0. The error message still shows up when I log in but I thought it's better than not seeing my Apex accounts. So, I am hoping you might have another solution for me. Thank you in advance for your help.

                        Hello coskinas,

                        Thanks for your note.

                        Did you have the 'Multi-provider' option enabled in the Tools > Options > General tab when using NinjaTrader 8 Version 8.1.1.3?

                        Note that the Multi-provider option would need to be enabled to see those accounts. See the help guide page below.

                        That said, if you still see the error occurring with NinjaTrader 8 Version 8.0.28.0 then please write in to support[at]ninjatrader[dot]com with a brief description of the behavior you are reporting and your log and trace files so we may look into this further. In the title of your email include "ATTN: BrandonH". In the body of the email include a link to this forum thread.

                        Follow the steps below to manually attach your log and trace files to your email so I may investigate this matter further.
                        • Open your NinjaTrader folder under, "Documents" (sometimes called, "My Documents")
                        • Right click on the 'log' and 'trace' folders and select Send To> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
                        • Send the 2 compressed folders as attachments to this email.
                        • Once complete, you can delete these compressed folders.

                          Did you try deleting your '_Workspaces.xml' file?

                          Exit NT, goto workspaces folder, delete that file (or
                          just move it out of the way, say to your desktop), then
                          restart NT.

                          If the problem reappears, then it may be embedded
                          in one of your workspace template files.

                          You can stay on 8.0.28.0 ... the problem can be fixed.

                          Suffering with 8.1.1.3 is not strictly necessary.

                            Hi, bltdavid. You're absolutely correct. I did go back to 8.0.28.0. The error still popped up so I'm going to follow what Brandon told me to do and send it to support and see if he can help me clear the error message. More to come on this.
