How to successfully migrate to 8.1: with the existing setups: templates, ATMs, etc.

The new subscription model in NT requires that we update to 8.1.
I have a complex set of charts, with a sizeable amount of data being displayed, on each chart.
Do you have a Runbook, or a checklist one should follow to...
1. Archive current setup.
2. Successfully carry over the existing setup, templates, workspaces and all to make the transition feel seamless..

A Runbook - you wish
If you’re currently on pre- .27 I’d update to that first due to the .26-.27 x86/64 bit directory migration
Export a Backup file.
Copy your Ninja .27 Docs folders beforehand- that way you should be able to paste them back in to deprecate from 8.1 to 8.0

Just suggestions based on past, as have not updated to 8.1 therefore nor rolled back either.
No idea if the new 8.1 era has draconian measures in place to prevent.

Hopefully Support will tell us

Thanks for your post.

It is not expected that there would be an issue when updating to the latest version of NinjaTrader 8.

That said, you should first backup your NinjaTrader 8 files.

Please note that the following list is the items you can choose to include or exclude from your backup (Configuration files, Database, Historical Chart Data, Log and Trace files, Market Replay Data, NinjaScript Files, Templates, Workspaces). Many users exclude the historical chart data, log and trace files, and Market Replay data to reduce the file size.

Follow these steps to backup your NinjaTrader 8 files.

• Open NinjaTrader 8 on the computer you wish to backup from and disconnect from any open connections if applicable
• Go to Tools > Export > Backup File
• Select which items you would like to backup and click 'Export'
• The file can be found in the Documents\NinjaTrader 8 Backup folder on your PC.

After backing up your NinjaTrader 8 files, update to the latest version of NinjaTrader.

To update to the latest version of NinjaTrader Desktop please follow the steps below.

• Login into the NinjaTrader Account Dashboard
• Click "Download" in the bottom left-hand corner of the sidebar
• Next select "Download" in the "Most Recent Release" Window in the main screen
• Once the installation had downloaded, ensure any previous version of NinjaTrader is closed before running the installation package.
  • Note: You may need to locate this in your "Downloads" folder in a Windows File Explorer

After the installation package is completed you will be able to log into NinjaTrader Desktop with the connection guide linked below.
