Live trading with previous version of NinjaTrader

Good day

I am currently still using version 8.0.26.1 64bit of NinjaTrader. This is due to a sweet of indicators that is not yet compatible with the latest version. The development team are busy resolving this. I am however unable to trade live and only see a SIM account.

• Is there any way to be able to trade live with my installed version?
• If yes, how should this be configured?
• I am using the FREE version of NinjaTrader. In other words no license apart from my SIM License ID. Perhaps I need a LIVE license ID?

Hello Zeroten010,

Unfortunately, no new live license keys are being created for out-of-date releases of NinjaTrader. Platform enablements are now associated with your user account.

If you already have a legacy live license, you can continue using it with the out-of-date release. (Enter the legacy live license in Help -> License Key)

If you do not already have a live license, to trade live you will need to update to the latest release (currently 8.1.1.3) and login using a user account associated with a funded brokerage account, or you will need to enable the multi-broker addon if you wish to trade with a supported 3rd party brokerage.


Updates to NinjaTrader will contain the latest security updates and bug fixes, as well as occasional new features and instruments.

To update NinjaTrader

• Shutdown all programs including NinjaTrader *important
• Download NinjaTrader from the link below
  Click here to download NinjaTrader
• Double click the downloaded file to execute it
• Follow the on screen instructions
• Restart NinjaTrader
