Microsoft Edge installation issue - NT8 installation fails

Hi

I am trying to install NT8 Desktop on a Windows Server 2012 R2 DataCenter. Upon downloading the latest NT8 it starts to install and then says "installing Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime".

Shortly thereafter I get the message "Microsoft Edge requires Windows 10 or higher".

If I proceed Ninja Trader setup throws a warning saying "There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". At this point the installation fails and reverts back.

Please advise what I need to do to get a successful installation completed.

Thanks for your post.

To clarify, are you trying to install NinjaTrader 8 version 8.1.1.3 from the NinjaTrader Client Dashboard?

Note that Microsoft Edge version 109 will be supported on Windows Server 2012/R2 through the end of support on October 10, 2023. Microsoft Edge version 110 requires Windows 10 or higher. I am inquiring with our Development team about which version is required to download NinjaTrader Desktop 8.1.1.3.

I will let you know what I hear from them when they get back to me on this.

yes I was trying to download 8.1.1.3.

I did receive a response to a support email I had also sent separately and was asked to download and install MS Edge. I did that and then when I ran the NT8 install it was successful.

To clarify, could I please inquire why Microsoft Edge is required for NinjaTrader to be installed?

Hello Bruce,

While I cannot go to much into the inner workings of NinjaTrader, I do know that Edge is used (or has been used) for some of the authentication windows for various connection types and share services.

I may have a similar problem to the above: Im trying to install NT8 on a VPS running Windows Server 2012 R2. I downloaded it and double clicked the NinjaTrader.Install file. After a few minutes the installation says 'Downloading Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime' then when it tries to run it, its says 'The installer failed to start'. I have installed all pending updates for Windows Server 2012 R2 and retsarted several times. Any idea how to resolve this please? Thanks

SOLVED: Did a wholescale installation of Microsoft Edge. and overwote the previous version. restarted and NT8 loaded ok
