Playback Running Slow

Is playback running slower on the update for anyone else?

What used to take 25 minutes or so to backtest is taking 1 hour +.

Is there something I need to turn on or off?

I don't see that there have been any changes to the playback connection in the last few updates. Are you seeing bars build slower or what way are you gauging the time difference here?

Hey Jesse, when I ran it on max it used to skip about an hour during trading hours and would skip 3-4 hours during the non specified trading hours.

I checked my internet and my cpus and everything looks fine. I only have NinjaTrader up when I test.

Right now Im testing on 1 min bars but it used to skip 30-60 depending on if there was a trade.

Now it runs about 1-5 candles, it actually took 3 hours to run through 3 months. Not sure if that’s normal for most but it was a lot faster before.

Do you have any custom indicators or strategies running while you test? its possible that one of those items may be affecting the performance. You mentioned the update, which version were you previously using and which version did you update to?

I am running a custom strategy but I haven’t changed anything on it.

I think it was 8.0 and I downloaded 8.1

Do you see any difference if you remove the strategy and close the workspace and then start a new chart? I am not aware of anything that had changed with playback between those versions.

I closed and reopened the chart, took the strategy off, restarted my computer.

It runs slow between 8:30 and 3:30 cst usually running 3-7 minutes per skip. was skipping about 10-25 minutes before.

About an hour per skip outside that window above. Was skipping about 3-4 hours before.

Pretty much can't backtest with how long it is taking right now.

I was going to go back to the previous version but I would have to uninstall the newest one.

Seems to run the same with or without the strategy and indicators running.

Hello Prestonf,

With the older version were you using 8.0.27.1 or a release before that? 8.0.27.1 did have playback updates including adding a historical data selection when upon connecting, if you were using a version prior to that its possible those changes altered the playback in some way. Unfortunately we can't test versions prior to 8.0.27.1 as those releases are no longer available. If you were instead using 8.0.27.1 and then migrated to 8.1.1.3 we could make a comparison between those versions to see if there is some difference.

You may also want to try deleting the data you downloaded and re download it to see if that helps.

To be honest I’m not sure which version it was.

I will try to redownload the data to the new version when I get a chance.
