    Forex.com strategy orders not working

I have a strategy kicking off trades with Forex.com

Originally I was allowing Forex.com data to be used as primary for my data source, however, the data was not as accurate as my kinetick data, so I changed it to use kinetick as primary for historical and current.

However, when I was using Forex.com data, the orders went through fine, just not accurate.

Now my orders are not working, saying unable to find market id for audnzd for example.

I suspect its because the kinetick market id or name for audnzd or any forex pair is different than the forex.com market id and or name, any way I can map this without using forex.com data which i am finding to be inaccurate?

If not this is a major shortfall

Hi Erik, the message "Unable to find market ID" sounds like it is coming from Forex.com and not a native platform error. Kinetick should not interfere with orders being sent to your forex.com account. The best way you can resolve this is to send your message to [email protected] and send your log and trace files for review. You can do this by going to Help>Email Support.

Hi Erik, please cancel your email to platform support as I have found the resolution here:

      Solution 1:
      • Ensure that FOREX.com is the source for the forex data
        • Change connection order manually, make sure Forex.com connects first, then Kinetick.
        • Configure preferred connections, and set your real-time data preferred connection to Forex.com
      Solution 2:
Confirm with FOREX.com that your account is in good standing and subscribed to real-time data

        Chris,

        Thanks for the reply.

I want to make sure I understand a few things....

First and foremost, the reason I stopped using Forex.com data is becuase it was not accurate and not lining up with my Kinetick data, which was also lining up with other sources I checked such as TDA. When I was using Forex.com data, the orders were processing fine.

So, I switched the data source to be using kinetick for historical and real time data.

So, if I do what you are suggesting, it sounds like I will have to go back to using Forex.com data over Kinetick data and deal with the inaccuracies? Or, is there a way to use kinetick for my data, and actually place forex.com trades?

        Thanks

Hi Erik, The real time data source must be set to Forex.Com in order for your orders to be routed properly. Unfortunately, you can only use the Kinetick connection for historical data loading.

OK, so let me ask a question on this if I can, so if I use Forex.com for real time, and kinetick for historical, how exactly does that work? Does NT8 take the real time data and store that in the database so that the forex data becomes the historical, or is it only used for the actual real time pricing and real time connection, but the database and all bars I see in the chart would still be based on Kinetick?

Hi Erik, when you set forex.com for real time, all the incoming real time data will be used to build future bars. The preferred historical data connection setting will determine the connection that is used to build the chart initially, so if you close out of the platform, wait a few hours, then re-launch the chart, Kinetick will be used to built the missing data.

OK, this is what I thought, thanks, and this is not going to work for me becuase I don't trust the forex.com data. Is there anyway to execute the trades on Forex.com, but still use Kinetick data, or is this impossible?

Hi Eric, Unfortunately that will not be possible. The real time data must be coming from Forex.com.

ErikY You also should read this and this.

                    Important points:
                    • The only data that should be used to trade an Account live is the data from that Account Connection
                    • What you refer to as "inaccurate" is what FOREX.com is actually using as its live data for trades
                    • If you use a different data source (e.g. Kinetick, but it could be any other valid source, even another different live Account), you are using data that is not the data your broker is using to place your Orders
                    • Kinetick and other data providers provide data only -- that data may or may not align with what your broker for a particular Account is using in their live environment. All data not directly from your brokerage Account is essentially irrelevant for live trading decisions; if you use it as the basis for making trading decisions in a live Account, you are essentially "driving a car whilst only watching a video of the freeway recorded a few minutes ago"!
Summary: No matter what you think about the data from your broker, that is the only data you should use to trade live! No matter what you do, that is definitely the data the broker will use to place your Orders!

                    Thanks.
