Dashboard, key economic news announcements

Hello NinjaTrader,

I have an issue with NinjaTrader raising margin requirements during regular trading hours. Your web site states the following:

"Intraday margins will be set to 4X our standard rates 15 minutes prior to the release of key economic news announcements as listed in your account dashboard for any and/or all products."

Looking at the "Upcoming Events" on my dashboard this morning (March 22,2023), the first thing listed is for March 26th, Natural Gas Last Trade Date. There is no entry for todays FOMC announcement for which you will be raising margin requirements for.

It seems this issue is becoming harder for you to manage or your quest to collect margin call fees is becoming more blantant by the day.

You have something to fix.

Thank you for your post.
The 'upcoming events' section of the dashboard displays future, rather than current, announcements.
There was an entry for today: March 22, 2023 FOMC Meeting
You can see the full calendar by clicking 'See all' or visiting: https://account.ninjatrader.com/calendar, where all upcoming and recent events are listed.

Generally, the economic events that trigger 4x margin are:

CPI
PPI
Employment report (the first Friday of the month)
FOMC.

Aside from that are high volatility events like those that surround elections, adverse news events (shocks), etc.


The way to see realtime margin is by using the iOS or Android app. On the Markets page, click the down arrow next to any contract and it will list the current margin requirement in realtime. The other way is on the trade page, click the "i" next to the contract and a popup will occur that give you realtime margin requirements.

For instance, today, 4x margin started around 1:40PM EST and didn't end until 2:55PM EST. This is for ES futures.

Note this only works for a funded account using realtime data. It doesn't work for simulated accounts.
