I'm wanting to backtest my strategy on ninjatrader. How far back can I backtest with futures contracts? I'm waiting to look at specific dates since 2020.

Hello,

If using NinjaTrader's historical data servers you will have access to the following amounts of data:

• Tick data: 1 Year
• Minute data: Data back to 2006
• Daily data: Data back to 2009
• Market Replay data: deleted after 90 days.

Please note some instruments may have more data available as well. If not using NinjaTrader's servers the amount of historical data you have access to would depend on your data provider.

Excellent! Thank you for that. How can I download the minute data for previous years? I've tried accessing it for previous years but it's not working. Also, where could I go to obtain tick data that I can import into Ninjatrader that exceeds 1 year? Thank you

If you increase the 'days to load' option on your chart (found in the data series menu) data will be loaded as far back as the historical data servers provide. I can't recommend or advise any particular supplemental data provider, but below is a link to our help guide on how to export such data for reference:
