Importing minute data timestamps

I'm trying to understand how ninjatrader stamps it's bars.

I have a dataset with 1-min data. The timestamps are starting at 0930 for the very first bar of the regular trading session (stocks).

When I import the historical data I have the option to select "Beginning of Bar Timestamp" or "End of Bar Timestamp"

Also, when I open the chart, the very first bar is stamped with 09:31 .. This is highly confusing.

Can anyone explain how I should import my dataset with which options?

Hello siroki,

Price bars are time stamped at the closing time in the NinjaTrader platform. For example, a 15 minute bar with a time of 13:30:00 has data from 13:15:00 to 13:29:59. Please see the link below.

Bar Time Stamp
NinjaTrader stamps a bar with the closing time of the bar. For example, a minute bar with a time of 9:31:00 AM has data from 9:30:00 AM through 9:30:59 AM. Using end of bar time stamps is required in order to be able to plot multiple series of differing time frames within a single chart all accurately synchronized to time.


If the dataset was exported from NinjaTrader, please select 'NinjaTrader (end of bar timestamps)' for the Format setting when importing this data. Historical data exported from the NinjaTrader platform uses "end of bar timestamps".

The historical data is exported with End of Bar time stamps to the chosen folder as a text file in the same format specified in the "Understanding import file and data formats" section of the Importing page.
