Ninjatrader 8 in VPS

Hello people, a question regarding the use of the platform in virtual servers.

In order to put my automatic systems to work on a VPS, would it be necessary to install ninjatrader 8, with my license on said VPS, leading to the fact that I could not use ninjatrader 8 on my PC?

Thank you for reaching out.

You are correct, you would need to install NT8 on the VPS. And also correct, accounts only allow 1 active session per account connection.

Since you will already be connected to your account on the VPS, if you try to also connect on your personal PC, it will force a log off on the VPS.

NinjaTrader Brokerage allows for clients to request additional logins for their accounts in order to be connected on an additional machine, they even offer sub/additional accounts as well for this purpose.

I understand. But referring to the platform license, and not to the broker account. So it wouldn't be possible to keep it open on the VPS and on my PC simultaneously, right?

Thank you for your message.

When it comes to your Live License key, you can use this key on any computer/device/machine you own.

You can open NT8 on your PC with your License key, and open NT8 on your VPS with the same License key at the same time.

You would just not be able to connect to same broker/account connection on both simultaneously.

With the recent updates, you now can be simultaneously connected on our VPS and your home PC, with the same NT brokerage account. The simultaneous connection works with both versions of NinjaTrader, 8.1 and 8.0.28 if you prefer it. Version 8.1 no longer requires a key, and you can be connected to two instances of 8.1 at the same time. With 8.0.28, you can use your own key if you have one, or our provided key at no additional cost.

You can use both, for example 8.0.28 on the VPS, and 8.1 on your home computer, or vice versa.

We provide on unlimited on demand screen sharing support sessions to help you set it up as well if you're having trouble.

Note that NT version 8.1 doesn't work on Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, or Azure. If you want to trade live on those services you have to use 8.0.28.

NT version 8.1 works flawlessly on our VPS, and without any additional setup.

Google, Amazon, Azure are all general purpose providers and it's up to you to figure out the dependencies and get it working.

However on our VPS, NT version 8.1 works out the box from the moment the VPS is instantly provisioned.

I would recommend NT Mobile VPS. Its very easy to set up. Then I have the Microsoft remote desktop on my phone and both of my computers (mac and windows desktop). I use all my live strategies on the vps and just my replay on the actual desktop. It is very convenient and I have used them since December of last year. I am on the road for work 75% of the time so it is nice to check on my strategy while on the go in 10 seconds

By hosting NinjaTrader on our VPS, you would only need a single installation anyway...

You can access the NinjaTrader from any one of your devices -- MacBook/PC/iPhone/Android.
